Pretty much. Although I’m trying a heavier gauge set of nickels that I had in the drawer on the CP that I’m tweaking the setup for. Mainly because I don’t want to spend money. All similar heights vs the strings?

Very much!I'm sure you are amused by women named Fanny.
Perhaps similar to the name Dick here. Just speculating.Very much!
One of my Great Grandmothers was known as Fanny. Her maiden name was Sarah Frances Pepper.
But she was known as Fanny Pepper. Two useful things, but I wouldn’t normally put them together!
Edit: true story!
Fanny as a girls name as gone out favour in Australia over the last few generations for some reason.![]()
I will be patient....Happy to throw $700-$1000 at a Japanese Tbird sight unseen and hope its a good one. But with Gibsons being all over the place from my own experience as well as everyone elses....ill spend that coin after being hands on. However to be honest...the goal is to do a full gold hardware redo on a sunburst, so the pickups aren't really a concern. More so how the instrument itself resonates, feels, plays and looks. They are all over the map. If a 2001 pops up for sale with no modifications and you can swing it, then that's probably going to make you pretty happy. I don't know about 2000 or 2002, and I don't know how consistent Gibson was in 2001. It could be that some have it and some don't. Because, y'know, Gibson.
I played with a guitarist who had a 5 watt Vox that he ran through an extension cabinet. It sounded great and could be spectacularly loud.Just to let you know- that if you spend over 2000 USD on a new made-in-England Marshall 4 x 12 cab with Celestion Greenbacks there is a chance that they may throw in a complimentary trio of their socks-
These were a gift from a guitarist friend who had just done that-

Yours truly checking out the cab and his 1987x 50 watt head before I lost weight (and regained it) in early-2022.

Here’s my little Vox AC4TV that later acquitted itself quite well going into the cab from its speaker out jack via the Two Notes Torpedo 16 ohm attenuator seen on the left. Believe me that even at 4 watts we needed the attenuation. Who would’ve thought the little amp was 16 ohm like the cab? Also sounds good through its own Celestine 10 inch speaker.

There is one like it, maybe the same one, on Reverb. It has been there for a while. It sure looks good. Too bad it is so expensive.I bet four out of the five faves on the heart meter are from this thread- btw, the fifth one is mine!

I dunno. Pepper. Hot stuff. Spicy. I can see it!Very much!

For years, the best known (and possibly best) doctor for vasectomies in Austin was Dr. Dick Chop.Perhaps similar to the name Dick here. Just speculating.
My late MIL Frances was Franny. I would hate to see what happened to anyone who called her Fanny.Very much!

Greco birds tend to be well worth the grand they get. Same for the Epis at $600-$800. The only Gibsons I've played (other than mine which I bough through GC and could have declined if necessary) were owned by club members and hence well appointed and setup.I will be patient....Happy to throw $700-$1000 at a Japanese Tbird sight unseen and hope its a good one. Same one. I came close. But bought the ‘77 instead. I love the color. But not that price. There is one like it, maybe the same one, on Reverb. It has been there for a while. It sure looks good. Too bad it is so expensive.
Every Gibson I own is first rate. I have six Gibson Thunderbirds. The only one I played before buying was my ‘15 with the DeColas during the GC Gibson blowout of October ‘15. Best made basses I own. And I own way too many basses.I will be patient....Happy to throw $700-$1000 at a Japanese Tbird sight unseen and hope its a good one. Guitar sounds aren't very manly and don't require much. Clearly.I played with a guitarist who had a 5 watt Vox that he ran through an extension cabinet. It sounded great and could be spectacularly loud.
