The asphalt holds the other fault in place.

You realize your second comment wasn't helping our confidence in safety and survival if we visit OZ!

Oh, then I better not add that its bite can kill in 15mins.
They have small fangs so you barely know you were bitten, and With no symptoms for for the first 13 mins so that you don’t go to hospital.
But the last x minutes before death are terrible…

Still come, but if you see a brown snake (they aren’t always brown in colour though) give it a wide berth
