Totally with you on that one. A victim of being way overplayed back in the day. I enjoy spinning the vinyl now and then.
They should have been, if only because they were set neck.
When you play them backward, you get neck float rather than dive. Life changing. Try it!
There is a lot of old stuff we considered junk then...that is collectable now.
Agree. Kinda did his own thing. And that's one of his really good tunes.

My dad and I bought one from an old teacher to sell. He did the money and I did the work. Doubled our money. Had I known I would have kept the dumb thing and sold in recent times!

A 1970 Gibson EB-3 bass originally cost $310 new. By March of 1970, Gibson also introduced the long-scale version (the EB-3L), which was listed at $390
When the Gibson Thunderbird IV (Non-Reverse) 1965 - 1969 was discontinued in 1969, its final official retail price was $289.50 for the two-pickup version. The one-pickup Thunderbird II model listed for $239.50
interesting, thought the first NRs were introduced in 66...

Later half of year 1965. Fender had half year changes also; the dot/bound w/pops J was made from January '66 thru June '66, and the block & bound w/pops was made from July '66 thru '69. Fenders' 24 fret Performer bass was made from July '85 to June '86, only one year but produced in two separate years, 6 months each.
The MIJ Performer was to be the "Deluxe" Jazz bass - but the CBS back to Fender employees buy-back cut off production in the transition.

I was looking at Fly Guitars, they list a total of 492 NR IIs and IVs for 1966, I thought Gibson started making them in '65 but none are shown in the production total, only Reverses - which were disco'd about halfway through the year.

Must have been more recently revised as all I've read from past documents said '65-'68 ...
totally...don't know how they could keep a straight face walking onstage with them outfits.... maybe it was intentional to help them smile while performing....

I thought so as well, I looked at Rob's book and he says '66-'69 too, Reverse disco'd in May of '65, so 6 months to redesign and reintroduce?

We opened for these guys on a "Reunion Tour" in the early 1990's.
Total mis-match from a billing perspective. We were pretty aggresive and atonal by comparison.
The crowd of 40 something women in tartan shirts and scarves booed us, relentlessly.
The only positive response we got was at the end of the the set I dropped my pants and mooned the crowd.
Pretty funny now that I think about it!
