Thunderbird Club

Wow, kinda disappointed with the DR Hi-Beams at band practice last night. The Thunderbird did not cut through the mix at all. I know there are other factors, but not much has changed otherwise since last week. As much as I like the strings when playing alone, I think they'll have to be retired.

@JJR58: You're welcome to any of the strings I try out and take off prematurely. Premature ejection.
Damn... I'll hafta keep that in mind when I get into a noisy situation.

massively overrated stings in my opinion, got a set cheap(ish) after all the raving on here about them and did not like them at all. tension way too tight even for a heavy fingers player like me, and sound awfully dull even with a pick. roto ss 66 way better. ernie ball cobalts rounds way better aswell. daddario better too. i know people like to go for these more artisan brands, but the big brands are played by so many of the greats and there is a reason for it, they are great.
WOW! I gotta wonder if you had a bad set or something. The reasons I like the Hi-Beams, are because (for me), they stay bright, and require such a light touch. We clearly had very different experiences with them! Inversely... I have a set of Cobalts on my 'bird right now that I'm not particularly fond of. I reckon that's why there's different kinds;)

Ya know, the Thunderbird completely looses its sex appeal when its wide enough to be a coffee table. Lop off the necks and put some legs on that thing! Tea and cookies anyone?

And while we're at it, I don't think those boots were made for walking!

(Yeah, someone pissed in my Wheaties this morning, gonna be a grumpy day):meh:
Sans necks... that would be a badass end table! Exactly the kind of furniture I would expect to see at hillerup's crib;)

I tend to have a pretty heavy hands. That may be why I get along with Cobalt flats as well as I do. The flats are easier on my fingers, and because I play them pretty hard, they are as bright as rounds would be for a player with a lighter touch.

Agreed

:jawdrop: That ranks number 1 on my wish list of pedals.
I can't find the interview, but Tony Iommi claims he owns close 80% of all tycobrahe parapedal's made!

It is a stellar pedal. I've used a Dunlop 105q Bass Wah before and loathed it, but the Chicago Iron pedal is like art. It's also gargantuan (although there isn't all that much going on inside), allowing for the huge frequency sweep that it's so well known for. It's a very evil sounding pedal. I wouldn't be surprised if between Tony and Geezer they own the majority of the old Tychobrahe pedals.

Amazing. I need to read up on how body chemistry can affect this stuff. The Rotosounds, which are notorious for dying off quickly, seemed to last just fine for me.

I have my good days and bad, when i was gigging, and depending how excited i was before the show, the strings were shot after a gig, was lucky if i got 3 gigs out of a set of strings.

I've heard of issues when winding up the strings on the tuners, sometimes breaking. i want to try those Cobalt flats.

Acidic is an understatement, last coated strings i tried were Elixirs, they were ok.
I tells ya what brodiddly... now sounds like the perfect time to check out those Black Beauties. from what everybody's sayin'... those might just give you the sound you're lookin' for, solve your Venusian demon sweat issue, and look great... all at the same time!
