I got to play my new bird for the first time last night in a rehearsal for a gig coming up - "new" band (guys I know but never played together in this trio before) with "new2me" material, new2me bass, new strings is never played before, different amp setup, I didn't know who the hell i was! Crazy feeling, like a first date after a divorce or something. I've been playing the same bass for almost 20 years. This is just - different. Spent the whole night trying to find my voice. The things I used to do don't yield the same results. I mean, it was enjoyable, but difficult.
Growing pains!

I happen to really like this album.

Me too. I remember hearing it for the first time in my teens and it just blew me away. I was mostly into metal before that.

I know the feeling, the Bird i have now is my first ever in my 44 some odd years of playing bass, well second, traded the first one, but i just took to it right away, felt natural.

That EB3 was a cheap Epiphone originally covered in a very ugly red very thick plastic coat, had a fight to the death to get it off with chemical warfare, burning heat and just lots of sandpaper, took my spare time for weeks , would never do it again (unless I learn about a better method ..). But the result is nice indeed I think. I reinforced the neck also with extra carbon rods as it had too much flex. I learned a lot from working on this bass.

For what its worth, Leo, I ride a Daytona 675 motorcycle on a near daily basis. It's the magic carpet ride. So, you got a fantastic number as far as I'm concerned.

And, just so you are in the right frame of mind, you can't go there if you started there and never left. We strive to stay there at all times around here. Here is there, for short.

We passed a huge red barn that had a slightly crudely painted sign that said "STEAKS, CHOPS, BREAKFAST, 24-HOURS, TOPLESS." Topless was the biggest word, of course. I wasn't sure whether to be really curious to find out what all that meant, or to avoid the place like the plague. My wife was with me, so we kept driving and option one never got much chance of happening. It's a confusing mental image.

I know it. That was one place I did not frequent, looked way to scary. Especially because of the location. I think the plague festered there. All those things advertised in huge lettering was deterrent enough for me.

I don't know. And never found out. The fact that Jeff knows the place I'm talking about and avoided it is hilarious. It's a small world. And yeah, the plague probably did fester there.
