I've got one of these as well, but not so 'curly'. :D
Mine has a 'sort of jazz' shape with a Rick-like scale.

They're not all great, but so many basses/guitars were coming out of the Matsumoku factory then with different badges/brands that odds were some would survive to become great sounding instruments! And as most were short-scale, there were the odd full-scale (34") basses made also. My first bass ('66) was a MIJ Stadium (same as ones badged St George, Teisco and probably others) and it was full scale.

I'll share this with all of you since it comes up every now and then, here's a couple of shots illustrating the process of removing the plastic case from TB Plus and similar type pick ups. The tool is a Xuron Cutter and to start you simply catch an edge and start peeling back, yummy!

Let your chrome project begin Jeff.

Why do ya suppose they bond those covers to the pup so aggressively?

Well, if you didn't they'd rattle, right? How's that going to sound when you have your SVT turned up?
They come off real easy though, it's about like peeling an onion.

I'm comparing to guitar pups w/metal covers. usually there's one little tack of solder on the bridge side, and one on the neck side & that's it. I'm not criticizing it by any means... just curious about the thinking behind it. Larry shed a little light on it for me:thumbsup:
