Though I recognize and appreciate the point you're making... there are very few problems, inside and outside the world of music, to which I've not received a wealth of possible solutions from the good folks in this forum:thumbsup:

No s#!t:jawdrop: It all makes sense now!

Such as 3 hotdogs to 2 buns to solve both the not enough buns to match the 10 pack of dogs, and shorter dog than bun issues? ;)

How serious was the "rip off" issue?
He said that the AC breaking emptied the register. We ended up half of what was promised and only played two sets. People would come in and have one drink and leave due to the heat. There was a promoter who does outside festivals and he came to see us because he followed the old line up of the band. We put on a good show for him and he was taking and laughing with our BL. Will know more during the week. We promote the crap out of this online, not only on our band Facebook page, but in NJ musicians groups. The owner didn't put us on the Marquee until last Sunday and didn't put the band name, just put Motley Crue tribute. I am looking at it as a live practice nothing more. Starting at dumps and work our way up from there. At least it's a resume

 sounds like a reasonable excuse, bet you had to change your strings after that gig. In my broke ass world that just means an extra day or 2 soaking in the ether to dissolve all the sweat.

I have some heavy promoting ahead of me, to try to regain some of the momentum that my recently imploded system of a down tribute had. Since the singer is retired, neither the remaining members of the old one or the new one I am starting has him in the equation, the other guy has the name and 900 likes on Facebook, so he has a head start. I have guys 2 counties over, so I may be launching this in a different market, with members of the leading tool and rage tributes in that area. But no set drummer yet.

My work is in front of me for sure. Starting over sucks. I don't think we will be doing small bars like that though. Nor 2-3 set whole nighters either. Always a package with other tributes.

Non-Thunderbird post, picked up this hunk o crap today just for fun. Separate thread started in the general Basses forum. Couldn't figure out how to link a thread here or I'd post the link.

What is it? Reminds me of a Mosrite.
It's vintage "made in Japan" and spray painted is what it is.
Producing some pretty gnarly grooves, I actually like playing it, but the neck is toast, Twisted and tweaked. I'll keep it for fun, might find a "use" for It. Might try to swap the neck, or just learn to play it as is - and avoid the G-String.

Place is next to a gas station and chemical plant. Used to be a great Rock bar, but owner has been sick and the place is falling apart. Had to be 85 degrees in their with no ventilation.

That like being between a rock and a hard place! (they need an emoji that expresses sweating!)

Replace the tuners, and maybe throw a Thunderbucker or Chinabucker in there?

Nooooooooo! Don't touch it other than playing it! I have a '65 Teisco Del Rey and dead stock with who knows how old flats on it - it's an amazing sounding bass!

Too bad about the neck twist - very unlikely it can be rectified. (and as you would agree not worth it) I love those cool 60's MIJ guitars/basses that were originally sold at places like Sears and Woolworths dept stores. If not for the twist I'd offer to paint it! I've developed a cool 'low-tech' that-type-of-vintage finish that would look great on that bass. It's a real beauty!

Chinabucker 'bridge' pickup would likely sound okay.

These basses came with hot single-coil pu's and 500K pots - they're pretty aggressive on their own! It's part of the draw - they are usually short-scale basses but they deliver some raw punch! :bassist:

I especially like the palm fronds. They are quite effective. More so then a wide strap for a Bird.

Yeah, but you really have to be careful with them, I'm still trying to get rid of that darn rash they caused. And don't get me started on the coconuts either, the chaffing took days to heal. In the end it was worth it though cause I get to hang out in the coolest club on TB!

It's the price we pay, but agreed, well worth it. Once healed, always ready to start over.

There have been complication though - That's why we always bring the guerney and defibrillator... :)

Yes, it's an '94 Ex-Factor neck and the bridge/tuner mechanism is from an '86. I bought the neck new from Phil. It was my first major build design. ('98?) The body is Koa and spec'd from my '64 so it's 3 pieces with tapered wings and V joints. Koa is pretty heavy and being a 'headless' - it don't dive! ;)

You know the drill : Pictures or it didn't happen! :)

Come to think of it, you might have posted a picture or two a long time ago...

What can I say? It's a common reflex to grab whatever's close when you're gettin' shoved in a hole;)

Somehow I read that wrong... :D

Never... NEVER avoid a G-string!!! :)
