I guess I got confused somewhere along the way. I thought it was the singer that fired you for warning the drummer that he was about to get stabbed in the back. That can't be right, because here, you're saying you
wanted him back.
Whatever the case... it sounds like you're amped about it
Does this mean you get to keep your Goth?
The singer quit, the guitar player (BL) was freaking out about the drummer not replying and was telling me how he was ready to pull the plug on the whole thing and fire the drummer if he didn't get a call from him by the end of the day. Apparently some other issues were pending with the drummer anyway. It wasn't about backstabbing, it was about BL freaking out in a downward spiral after the singer quit, and for whatever personal reason he asked me to stay out of whatever was going on between him and the drummer. Tensions between BL and myself were over simple things like me not doing exactly what he said, or contacting someone that he wanted to be the exclusive contact for (yes a control issue). I always had a good reason (he called them excuses and rationalizations, basically treating me the way a bad assistant manager at a job would have). It was simply the principle to him and it had been adding up. I was between a rock and a hard place because 99% of communication had to be text only and he was prone to misunderstand me or take things in a way different than I intended.
This whole fiasco put it all in perspective to him, as his whole band crumbled in 2 days. He realized that I was the most committed member and is wiping the slate clean and working on how we communicate from now forward.
His fears about the drummer were right though, he did end up bailing, and that was in motion before the singer quit.
About the goth, there is still no solid paying gig on the calendar till Dec 1st, Oct 7 was changed to different bands, and I might only be making $50 minus gas for a far away show on Oct 28. But if the door does well I may make more, but if our sub is unavailable, we may have to pay someone else $100 minimum. Which leaves the rest of us in the $30-40 range (if we only get the minimum), gas money gig,.first at a new venue, and through a band that is getting a bunch more $, knowing how that venue works. I didn't book that one. If it was me, I would have known how that venue works and negotiated for a larger cut. This was one of the times the BL got mad at me and pulled me off booking duty via a text, and the band he found for a show we were doing offered him that show at half our usual guarantee, and he took it.
I have a feeling in the future I won't be treated that way anymore, now that it has come to the forefront how it made me feel and how close I was to quitting several times, but the singer would talk me down from it and act as mediator.
This all happened for a reason. The goth is still for sale. BL only has one iceman, I can do it with one bird. I can use a peavey or OLP as my backup. It is just a matter of changing strings and a few tweaks.
But if the goth hasn't sold in a month or 2,/and things are going well with the band, I might keep it and set it back to drop C as dedicated backup bass.
