Got thinking about all the earthquakes in the news recently - South America, Mexico City, Japan, who's next? Seeing that SoCal is in a bit of an EQ zone, it could be us. Pretty much everything in the house of value is bolted down or EQ proofed as good as possible except my basses hanging on the wall. I use Hercules wall hangers, which are a captive hanger that you have to lift the bass out of to unlock, so they shouldn't easily fall to the floor but they could get swinging pretty good and bang into each other or the wall and end up doing a lot of damage to the instrument.
Enter a cheap (and somewhat cheesy looking) solution...

I had a bunch of Guitar gig bags that I wasn't using, being shorter than a bass bag the guitar bag allows the headstock to stick out far enough to still use with the wall hangers. Added benefit - less dust, dirt and sun messing with the finish and strings of the basses. So as long as they don't fall off the wall they are completely protected from being banged around in an earthquake. Kind of a neat little hack for those of you in similar situations.
PS - Obligatory Gibson content front and center.
Exposing the Den I see, very nice indeed Mr. G.
Exactly what I was saying.Or just local rock shows. On top of seeing great local talent, you get to meet LOTS of cool people that share your love of music. Plus, it supports the next generation. Go see local talent!
I will enjoy artists whose views I find repulsive in the same way I enjoy the works of Richard Wagner... once they're good and dead.Barring extreme cases (like Gary Glitter)... I don't really give a crap about their political views, business practices, etc. I judge the music separately from the individual performing it. A murderer on death row is capable of painting a picture as beautiful as Rembrandt could... as can a butcher, baker, or candlestick maker. do I like KISS? Yes (the old stuff). Do I like Gene Simmons? HAYL naw!
Excellent! Kat’s correct. You really need to get some chrome pickup covers to match that.
That's ok, my home security system is set to deliver high velocity lead poisoning to any unwanted intruders.Very attractive to katburglars.
I'm kinda in the same boat. Ignorance is bliss for me. If all I know about an artist is their music I'm good to go (especially if I like the music). But as soon as they start spewing personal politics or religion or involve themselves in other lightening rod issues I'm obligated to lump that info in part and parcel to my opinions of said artist, at which time they are either admired and supported by me or they become an unwelcome unwanted waste of talent.I will enjoy artists whose views I find repulsive in the same way I enjoy the works of Richard Wagner... once they're good and dead.

"Shut up and sing" is a pretty safe road to follow, I'm still amused by the number of artists that can't stay on that road.

Yeah, I know. I just find it kind of odd that someone else, approved or not, continued the trilogy
