Thunderbird Club

but what really bothers me, is that the fretboard is waaaaayyy to light shaded.

Don't know if its just an ugly rosewood board; a medium/dark but very dry rosewood board,

I bought a used t-bird that was in great shape, I loved everything about it, except...the fretboard looked very very light in color. After playing for at least a year I decided to oil the fret board and it made a huge difference. I was happy with it right away. That was a while ago and it looks like I need to do it again.

How often do fret boards need to be oiled? Do they reach a point of saturation where it does not need to be oiled so often?

Whenever you change your strings would be an ideal time, strings are already off the bass so might as well oil the fretboard. I'd also do a good cleaning of the whole bass at that time too.

It is not either/or. I want to see the big name touring acts (Alice Cooper was on the bucket list for a number of reasons) but I also go to local shows. Time is the constrained parameter.

When are the Nasty Habits going on tour? I would go see that.

One of my biggest pet peeves, is those people that change the song halfway through, and they usually do it ALL THE TIME. I just don't get it, they must not like music as much as they say.

I'd be up for a mini road trip to see them!

Short hiatus for us until Halloween, (we had to cancel one show) as our guitarist is quite ill with Diverticulitis. and will be under the knife soon - She barely made it through our last show a couple months back, was doubled up behind her amp at least twice. She is at this point at just healthy enough to undergo the operation and play the Oct.28th show.
After that, I have to find a new drummer...........

Then, the world tour.

Best of luck to your guitarist!

Neither disease nor finding a new drummer sound like a good time. I have a friend who is a pretty decnt drummer, but she's not in drag when she looks female. What a pity.

Drummer doesn't have to dress, if she can really play (Band is only as good as the drummer) and wants to do '80s covers let me know Will.

It doesn't make sense unless that instrument couldn't be sold there in the first place. I mean, aren't Gibson TBirds sold in Europe? If Gibson could send them to dealers, why wouldn't a purchaser be able to get one delivered from a private seller?
Law took effect Jan 1, 2017 and governs all rosewood of any age. Requires a license that proves it's legal. Takes quite a while and costs around $150 for a single item.

Metallica, now that another level of douchebaggery...I remember in the early 80s when there demos were out, on cassette and they were pushing people to share them with friends...for FREE, giving them out...Metal up your ass, Kill 'em all, then...Lars got his douche hat on and went on a warpath...Napster...I was one of the people who downloaded a couple of their tunes and I was also one of the people that got a letter from their lawyer...apparently now that they made it big, sharing was no longer acceptable...now look, before the criticism rolls in, I get it, its a business, they do it to make money...but dont plead with your fans to share stuff with their friends, and then threaten to sue them 2 years later for it...without your fans you can go flip burgers, I haven't spent dime one on Metallica stuff since Ride The Lightning...I do play it in my band, but thats it. Nor has Gene Simmons got any of my money in 25 years...I know I am in the minority but it is what it is...I am too old to change now ;-)
Rock on!

This has nothing to do with the original discussion regarding prices of concert tickets...

I get the point that you have some grudge against Metallica (Lars Ulrich) and Kiss (Gene Simmons) - But let's leave this for a completely different thread, before things run out of hand here...

I could have mentioned other bands that put up big stage shows, like U2, Rammstein, Mötley Crüe, Iron Maiden, Rob Zombie or whatever... The point being that touring with a stage show of this magnitude is not cheap, and therefore justifies the cost of concert tickets nowadays.

Gene Simmons is one of the few people that I truly hate, not because he tries to make money from nothing, i.e. trademarking stuff that he has no business trademarking (which doesn't help). But the biggest reason was when he made public comments about people that commit suicide are cowards, he said that not too long after my cousin committed suicide so it really struck a nerve. Whether you believe that or not doesn't matter, that's the kind of thing you keep to yourself, not publicly state it. Sad thing is I really liked Kiss when I was a kid, a good amount of the first songs I learned on bass were Kiss songs.

Sorry about the loss of your cousin...

I kinda agree on your points here: Gene probably shouldn't have made that insensitive comment publicly, and although I personally think suicide is an "easy" (and unfortunately permanent) way out of a given problem - calling it a cowardly solution may not be the best of words.

Peace... :)

I knew he's gone, just taking a run at some levity.
People leaving is tough business.

Yeah, I know. I just find it kind of odd that someone else, approved or not, continued the trilogy.

Wow, really sorry to hear that! Best to the guitarist. And good luck finding a drummer.

With Douglass Adams, you can't be entirely sure he's gone. He might just be improbable.

I’ll run some bistromath on the level of improbability.

We are on the same page, I get it. I dont feel Crue, Maiden or Zombie gouge their fans.
You know what I say though, just this and then I am gonna move on as you pointed out things may get out of hand...opinions are like butts, we all got one, but most are full of sh1t ;-)
Rock on my Danish brother of the bottom end!
