Thunderbird Club

Gun cases aren't wide enough for basses more than 12.5 inches wide, which is most of them.

Do you know the model number? I see HBs on their website but not sure what to ask for... thanks
I don't remember, and it doesn't matter. Call them and explain that you want the clovers that are sized for a modern Thunderbird. They will tell you exactly how to order what you need. That's what I did, and it worked perfectly. With the small exception of the size weirdness on that '91 I was chroming out. And, if you get some size and location weirdness, drilling holes in a Gibson is liberating. Really. It is.

Aint no 'big angry piano' with flats on it dude. I have probably already mentioned the occasion many years ago someone tried to sell me on the virtues of half-rounds, chief of which was they 'feel like a flat'. How on earth are you supposed to know where on the neck you are if you can’t feel the string windings?
Actually, when I put Cobalt Flats on a 'Bird, it got a fantastic angry piano sound. I don't understand how the Cobalt Flats tear up Phil's fingers. They are flats! The tension doesn't bother me, and I'm used to having no frets and the abolute lack of feedback from gut strings on the upright, so smooth strings isn't an issue. I can even get a decent twangy sound out of Cobalt Flats if it's called for.

So, there's my two pixels worth. Besides, I fall over in heels and just don't have the right kind of legs.

Cool. I am looking to replace the bridge with a badbird or something similar and the thunderbucker 62 pickups (i think that is what they are called, have to double check). It will be chromed and hopefully the tone is more to my liking.

Kat's secret - she counts the windings between frets... Probably uses her bass for math as well; using the windings like an abacus.

Wayfarers and a beret??? You lettin' "him indoors" mod yer wardrobe up?

Have worn wayfarers for more years than I am willing to admit. I'm currently rocking a pair of vintage metal frames. The beret is a Laulhère Super Basque Marine, found all by myself (although approved by he who was mistaken for Paul Weller again yesterday).

I really dig the way you set your tuning pegs so they're 90 degrees to the neck, instead of 90 degrees to the edge of the headstock. It's a subtle detail that quietly lends itself to the overall "attitude" of the bass.:thumbsup:

I usually wear Oakley's version of wayfarers and they can go with a TBird… but a beret and a TBird?!

If you are ever approached by a tiny sweary woman wearing wayfarers and a beret, you DO know to run right?
No, last time I really ran was 3 years ago. I was drunk and running from flashing lights that were moving closer. Have since used my minimal brain space for other things.

WAIT… did I just walk past you in hallway of my college?!

I'm betting that @JJR58 can run faster scared than @kat888 can angry.

If someone could run Trump out of town I’d promise to use flats for the rest of my life. Small price to pay
Not my place to demand it... but I, for one, do not appreciate anyone bringing politics... ANY politics... in this place. There are only 2 places where I am not bombarded with that cancerous bile. Out in the woods, and in this forum... and it's hot & muggy outside.

But you had the tone pot removed to get a "brighter" sound and then go with flats.....well, the heart wants what the heart wants! Enjoy you crazy SOB!

I've always been a crazy SOB.

This is where i have the advantage, i have a head start, i'm halfway around the world, so if i start to move now, she'll have a hard time finding me.
