I hope you'll post a review. I'm curious about how an inherently dark string will sound when made out of an inherently bright alloy. Could be really cool!I'm going to duck and cover for this one, Ernie Ball Cobalt flats.

I've not ever heard them to be dark sounding at all. But will definitely post a review.
I've used their Cobalt rounds in the past and loved them, just have been shying away from rounds for a while now, it was the Cobalts or Chromes.
So we'll see what these are all about. I did put on the light gauge. Heavier gauge strings and me don't get along.
I tried the cobalt flats. Sound was good, bright for flats. But they tore my fingers up. Replaced with chromes and they were equally good, without the sore fingers. But, after months of trying, I am just not into flats. They sounded good and interesting at first, but they just weren't for me. Too much tension, not enough overtones. Just couldn't get into them. Good luck and let us know how the experiment goes.
Why? There are all kinds of strings to accommodate all different tastes.I'm going to duck and cover for this one, Ernie Ball Cobalt flats.

Now Jeffrey... don't you let those mean children bother you! You go out there & put whatever strings you like on your little thundercloud, while I go have a little talk with their mothers!I'm going to duck and cover for this one, Ernie Ball Cobalt flats.

Do you know the model number? I see HBs on their website but not sure what to ask for... thanksIt isn't there on the website. They make clovers that are just a tad smaller than the usual. Those don't bang into each other, ever. The slightly bigger ones could. I had to call them and make sure I had the right notation on an internet order to get the right ones. They will fit a 2013 perfectly. The '91 I put them on had a different configuration for the set screws, which meant drilling holes.
Drilling holes in a perfectly good Gibson bass guitar was terrifying at first, then oddly satisfying.
Well, Jeff... she's kinda gotcha there. You've been quite vocal about your appreciation for the Big Angry Piano. You'll be kissing that goodbye with those flat wound strings. You may, however, find something else that you enjoy...Aint no big angry piano with flats on it dude. I have probably already mentioned the occasion many years ago someone tried to sell me on the virtues of half-rounds, chief of which was they “feel like a flat”. How on earth are you supposed to know where on the neck you are if you can’t feel the string windings?
