Thunderbird Club

And they're YELLOW.
Also available in Red, and Purple!
And most importantly IN BLACK!!
Actually you can get any EBMM in any of their colours. So you can even get a StingRay in yellow. Hell you can order it with an ebony fretboard and tort pg.... I mean clear, or black, or white, or any of their other colour pg's

Ever since I saw a picture of that Adam Clayton Sig Purple sparkle P, I keep trying to imagine it slung over the shoulder of @TBird1958

Sorry, I appreciate the thought, but the only Fenders I'll have are the ones on my Subarus.

I've owned 3, gave them a fair try and moved on to what I know is a better bass for me :D

I like the yellow on the Bongo. I think Stealth Black is best, though.

I have three rules of bass acquisition:
Not black,
Not white, and
Not grey.

I have broken those rules twice. O
ne of those times for a Thunderbird. One of those times for the Gibson with the prismatic finish. So, the exceptions were for exceptional basses.

Yellow would be cool.

I only have two basses that don't break those rules :roflmao: a burst and a trans blue

I think those Bongo basses look like a toilet seat with an attached neck... ;)
I've thought of buying a stark white Bongo bass and putting a pale yellow (piss in the toilet bowl) pickguard on it. As good as they sound and play, I just can't get past the toilet seat design. :rollno:

I took the wrong pot out of my Bird the other day (I only have one pickup now), and brought it to rehearsal last night without having tested it. I was late, everyone else was there. I plugged in. Silence...

Fortunately the little music store in the rehearsal hall was open, and they let me borrow a P-bass to use. It was interesting to find out that even with the single, humble Deep Sixx p'up, my Bird has way more heft and depth than a P-bass can dish out. But, I did enjoy playing the P-bass. Maybe I'll refit my old Squier P-Bass project with a humbucker of some kind. I do still have the Model One I never used. But I think something more radically humbckery would do.

Got a lot of good ideas here, I'll have to actually do one.
Dude I can tell you that my Thunderbirds neck pickup now located in the bridge slot on my P/J offers a menacing screech from hell, in certain notes you can hear something that is unlike a typical bass note, its like some kind of effects pedal and it reminds me of a sci-fi movie with some jumbo jet sized electronic Tarodactyl exhaling lazers. It is so unique that Im torn on what bass Im supposed to use for recording with my bands debut material.

Can anybody tell me whynahell these friggin' Bongo basses are still in production... or for that matter... why they ever went into production??? Do they have mystic powers or sup'm? I mean... they're SO, like... cartoon fugly! Do they sound and/or play so well that people are willing to endure the ridicule? Is there a sufficient number of circus-themed novelty acts in the world, to actually support the product line? Please! ANYBODY... help me understand why there was ever any more than one of these things built, before I go to my grave!:bawl:

"Different", and "unique" are wonderful qualities to have... but just being unique or different doesn't mean it's automatically a good idea. To the best of my recollection... I've never seen one in the hands of anybody who wasn't being compensated in some way for having been photographed with it. Knowing it has an 18V active system in it, is all the more reason to avoid it IMHO. first thing I'd wanna do, is rip all that crap outa there & run a simple passive system in it. I'm not a big fan of complex wiring, batteries, on-board pre amps & all that other PIA stuff that's just aching to go wrong at the worst possible time. I'm adequately "entertained" by 2 passive pickups going through volume, blend, and tone pots (one of each will suit me just fine). I'm perfectly happy with any other tone shaping coming from what's onboard the amp. Maybe that makes me a "simple" man, but I'm just fine with that. Way I figger... if ya hafta keep piling frosting on the cake just to make it palatable... maybe yer cake sucks! Being a Music man... I'm sure it's a quality piece... but DAYUM... ya know? If it had a spectacular neck on it, and sounded amazing, I would play one... but I'd always be wondering, "Why does it have to look like THIS?":rollno:

So... I guess you really don’t like MM Bongo’s? ;)
