Excellent! I've never been a fan of how the Ibanez basses sound. Just not my thing. EMG's are, though. Glad you got what you wanted out of it. Those vintage instruments are superbly made for the most part.

Those Reissue Destroyers, like many other reissues, are pale imitations of the originals...IMO.

I have two 1984s and I like them. Medium scale.

:jawdrop: Are you ******* with me right now??? We're talking about of a chunk of wire & wood... not a human being... and one person's opinion of it! I'm... just... I don't know... wow... I mean... you don't even HAVE one... why are you doing this?o_O

I deleted my posts, because I see no value in allowing this utter madness to persist. I'll be sure to let the folks down at the Music Man Bongo Player's wing of the Civil Liberties Union know what an outspoken advocate you are for their "cause"... or whatever...

I'm gonna ignore you now. I hope you'll extend the same courtesy.

The placement of a post like that is irrelevant; we have rules against posts like that about instruments you do not own. Please abide by them.
Thank you

All I said was basically "hey, not cool."

No, that's not all you said...

I normally would have reported something like that. I didn't in this case, but it's still a pretty messed up thing to say, and IMO hyperbole doesn't excuse saying that someone's bass should never have been created.

This to me is unbelievable in that you don't even own the bass in question. SMH

Are you saying that we can't say whether we dislike how a bass looks unless we have owned it? I'm not questioning your authority, just looking for clarification. Thanks.

You do understand that @theFixer wasn't commenting on a specific bass owned by @Korladis, right?

This was a case of, "I like this bass" said by Korladis and "I don't like that bass" said colorfully by theFixer?

As a designer, educated and making my living as one my entire adult life, I'm not a fan of the Bongo 'design'.

As an owner of a '77 StingRay since 1982, I abhor what EB did to that design and electronics as well as their "You can't buy a replacement for your original preamp unless you return the old one" policy. Who do they think they are, Rickenbacker? I also don't particularly like their strings.

My OLP Sting Ray is OK for the price I paid although it sounds nothing like my '77.

Is this PC enough?

I can't help but think that perhaps we need hyperbole tags.

As I have re-read what @theFixer wrote, I think the only place that he crossed the TB rule line was using the word "fugly". If he had omitted that word, I can't see where there was any transgression of TB rules. But I am not a moderator, nor do I play one on TV. [hyperbole]Nor am I a lawyer, thank god for that.[/hyperbole]

It doesn’t matter if he owned it or not. Korladis would have been corrected in reporting the post- theFixer’s post was far beyond “I don’t like it.” The “ugly bass rule” has been in effect here for well over a decade- as some of of you aren’t aware of this rule, it’s specified here:

It's a 2016 re-issue Destroyer, DTB400.

Fit and finish... 10 out of 10... The binding is 11 out of 10! ;)
Electronicals..... Hmmmm. 1 out of 10..... Sounded bland, lacking definition, no balls.... Had the look but not the sound to match! ;)
Tacky knobs..... 1 out of 10....

Plays nice. (Did from the get-go, after a slight truss rod tweak out of the box.)

Sounds good now. Definition in the mids, plenty of low end energy. Yep, I'll take that as a win with the EMG GZR's installed. New set of knobs.... The only thing I might still want to do, is put a "decent" (and light) set of tuners on it... Schaller M4 Lights, Hipshot HB6, Gotoh GB350.... Not that the stock tuners are complete crap, just to knock a little weight off of the head stock. Made a very noticeable difference when I put a set of (42gm per tuners) tuners on my Epi Classic Pro 'Bird. Figure the stock Epi tuners are 70-80gm each. (Not that I weighed them, just guessing, they seemed heavy in the hand, compared to the Schaller.)

@Bryan R. Tyler, thanks for the clarification and posting of the rule. Duly noted.

:roflmao: I did find it funny that there's a Bongo addendum. :roflmao:

EDIT(jt) : the bongo addendum this goes for posts too. if you wanna compare a bass to a commode, that bass better have a handle or else you better own one.

[hyperbole] @theFixer Discuss; I dare you![/hyperbole] - note these looks appear to be intentional

There is a Bongo Addendum. But no Mothman exception!?
