Thunderbird Club

Try a 60-65 gauge string before you shave it down, if you can. More for my own curiosity.
Ive got a 55 on there right now, corrects the problem and sounds really good so I will stick with it until I can find a 60 or 65. L+M were out of 65's. I will remember to get back to you on this if I switch things up.

:thumbsup::thumbsup:
In the morning I’ll see if I have an old one laying around. Thing is it might be too short for the G—tuner

I did a sloppy, quick clip of the Embassy Pro if anyone wants to hear those new 760 pickups

Thanks for recording this, I think they sound pretty good.

Hey I have one of those, and not a bit of Tort on it!

Reverend Rumblefish 5L (one of only four made in this finish). The "Blackwood" finish is actually Formica and it sounds great! They had some truly funky finishes (fish eye, lava, Blackwood, etc).

I now return you to your regularly scheduled Thunderbird goodness.

Dude I can tell you that my Thunderbirds neck pickup now located in the bridge slot on my P/J offers a menacing screech from hell, in certain notes you can hear something that is unlike a typical bass note, its like some kind of effects pedal and it reminds me of a sci-fi movie with some jumbo jet sized electronic Tarodactyl exhaling lazers. It is so unique that Im torn on what bass Im supposed to use for recording with my bands debut material.
well... you could ask for the opinions of your bandmates... but it sounds to me, like you already know which one you wanna use;)

His style is still Geezer but his Lakland with signature pups sound more hollow metallic than his old Fender with deep bottom end thump. Sounds more trendy than classic, Im not good with change:thumbsdown:
I don't think it's the bass so much as other stuff in the chain.

Yeah, I think it comes down to spirit vs. letter. By the letter, wrong. By the spirit, he chooses hyperbolic expressions (based on his posting history) and intent was not bashing (based on the expressions that he chose). Regardless, it is not up to you or I, it is in the hands of the moderators who can choose if or what action will be taken. And I may have over-stepped bounds by discussing moderation I guess?
I normally would have reported something like that. I didn't in this case, but it's still a pretty messed up thing to say, and IMO hyperbole doesn't excuse saying that someone's bass should never have been created.

Maybe just his settings that I dont like, not the same tone we are accustomed to hearing from him. That and the fact he no longer uses broken speakers:laugh:
He only used the broken speakers for the first album, I thought?

@Korladis i shared your new release link with some of my friends that like the heavy. Hope thats ok
Of course I don't mind! Thanks!

A few months ago I described a cabinet as the 'naked mole rat' of bass cabs ... and the next thing you know the company owner's at me saying 'are you calling my baby ugly?!' Now I didn't say it was 'ugly' and naked mole rats mum's love them...
I try not to be insulting to stuff other people like. I'll say that I don't like something, or even hate it, but with something subjective where it's all a matter of taste, I try to shy away from making definitive statements.

I initially thought that they were ugly and had the same toilet seat thought, but the look has grown on me a little. Not the back or white, but a bright yellow one would be cool.

In defence of @theFixer (really, I'm going to defend him on this? Yeah, it looks like I am) I think his intent was hyperbole. The Bongo is pretty much the exact opposite of a `Bird and I took the intent to be highlighting that the differences are stark and does not warrant discussion in the Thunderbird club. Of course, he is wrong about that; non fendery things are fair game and fendery things as well.

Or maybe he just really doesn't like the aesthetics.
Well... if I'm going to be put in a position where I have to defend or explain my words... I'll do it... but under protest. There was no incendiary intent. I didn't go to the EBMM club and leave the comment. It is a regular occurrence around here to poke fun at certain models, and even those who play those models (a mark I am careful to stay shy of). I've watched remarks far more abrasive, personal, and insulting than mine, get laughed away & ignored. Yet... here I am:meh:

Clearly... as PillO stated... virtually the entire paragraph was obviously hyperbole. It is not, however, hyperbole when I say that I find the design so off-putting, that I sincerely cannot imagine anyone finding it attractive or desirable on any level. This, like so many other similar comments made thousands of times daily throughout these forums... is an opinion. One you can freely chose to agree with, disagree with, or ignore entirely.

This reactionary hyper-sensitivity is ridiculous, and needs to stop.

:jawdrop: Are you ******* with me right now??? We're talking about of a chunk of wire & wood... not a human being... and one person's opinion of it! I'm... just... I don't know... wow... I mean... you don't even HAVE one... why are you doing this?o_O

I deleted my posts, because I see no value in allowing this utter madness to persist. I'll be sure to let the folks down at the Music Man Bongo Player's wing of the Civil Liberties Union know what an outspoken advocate you are for their "cause"... or whatever...

I'm gonna ignore you now. I hope you'll extend the same courtesy.

My recollection of TB rules and policy is that it's forbidden to post a negative comment about another persons bass, but for the life of me I can't find anything official on TB in writing specifically calling that out as an infraction. There's a blurb about being courteous and polite but nothing that specifically says you can't post an opinion about your dislike of a certain bass model or feature.

I'm not a moderator, but IMHO I have yet to see anything on this thread that even comes close to an insult infraction. Sure folks here (and the rest of TB as well) have opinions about specific brands or models or features or colors or as a standing inside joke in this club even pickguard material and FSOs. Opinions are just that, not fact, not the final word, just one persons opinion - differing opinions always exist and can be voiced as well. The key is to remember to be polite when voicing an opinion and not call out any person or group as wrong for differing with your opinion, their point is as valid as yours.

Fix - no harm, no foul. I for one enjoy seeing others opinions on different gear, and the colorful pictures you paint with your opinions are always entertaining if not insightful. Rock on.
