It's all a lame-name-game similar to Fender vs Squier. Maybe it goes on more there, dissing Squier etc. Both sub-brands/umbrella brands have just as much cred by now, so it just comes down to which one works the best for any one individual player regardless of label.

I'll say this, my MIK Epi is def top quality. I've played newer Gibsons of lower quality than it, it's a very solid instrument. There are good MIC Epis, but I think that MIK period was real solid.

I don’t see anything wrong with finishing off the look of the VP with a Gibson TRC.

Just as long as no one does it to sell to some unsuspecting/unknowing buyer, then do what you want, it’s your bass.

I actually prefer the recent Epiphones to recent Gibsons.

This guy put one of my Bicentennial TBird Vinyls on his 80's Washburn B5.

Not one of us but the owner is a friend and a local repair guy and a great dude. Not sure why he put the Bird on there but it had the bomb sticker on it when he bought it. It is a great bass and he offered it to me but I can't move on anything at the moment. The basses from that era at Washburn seem to be nice pieces overall from what I have seen.

Certainly no reason to do that, there's no shame in playing an Epiphone, they nailed it with the Classic and I think the Vintage will be a great bass in it's own right. Mine lands Tuesday

Agreed! No shame playing a Epi these days. If the Vintage Pro is anything like the Classic we are in for a treat. I played a MIC Jack Casady in a local store and was very impressed, they even got the stain color right on the back.

Can't speak for his sticker "work" but his touch up work on my Spector was very well done.
