Thunderbird Club

The Badbird is only for 60's Thunderbirds and requires no modification to install. The extra travel for the saddles is on the sharp side or toward the neck. On the Bach bridge its mounting posts are centered where mine are not. I doubt a Bach bridge will work on a vintage Thunderbird, I supose it could be made to work but I don't know if it is wide enough on the sharp side and the studs would be a issue as 60's Gibsons are SAE and the Bach is metric. Another difference is my tail piece is a exact 60's replica while Bach's is angular L shaped. Here is a Badbird installed on my Charcoal 60's NR

In what way does your Badbird bridge differ from the Bach bridge? For the untrained eye they seem pretty identical...

Ahh... Now I can see the difference!

Thanks for clearing that up, Scott...

Those NR's look really nice! :)

It may still be climatizing to your environment and the relief in the neck could be settling in as well; something to check before moving the bridge again. Or maybe your basement changes humidity alot? My humble opinion - never hang a Thunderbird by the neck. I always use a regular guitar stands with foam rests and never have adjustment problems beyond some seasonal tweaks which is normal here in the midwest.

So, my basement has been a very safe and stable environment for all my other basses. I will heed your "don't hang it" advice however. I'm going to lower the action, do a little truss action and put it on a stand for a few days and see how that works out.

Well this makes number three! Rob of Number One Guitars had a used Cherry TH-1 in stock and as these are no longer being made I figured I better grab it. I had a cherry one and foolishly sold it I instantly regretted it so I am excited to get this bass. It will get the G.O.T. treatment, new pg, repro 60's tail piece, and either a Thunderbucker or Dimarzio model G under a chrome cover. These are great basses, the bass Gibson should have re released. Here is a quick picture from Rob the bass should arrive in a week or so.

Gorgeous.

They don't have much in common with 60's NRs other than body shape. They are a fine bass on their own though. I thought I'd elaborate a bit here. The things that are different between the two. Body thickness, pick guard shape, pickups, pickup placement, control layout, bridge, tuners, neck profile, headstock size, headstock shape, headstock angle and volute.
Just a comment on my 2013 non-reverse. The more I play it the more I love it. I don't know how it would stack up against a vintage non-reverse, but I know its a great bass.

Hello tbird clan! I just had to tell my fellow members of the deal that fell on my lap today. I found a "players" Gibson Blackbird tonight for a screaming deal! Not sure if I'm allowed to post the price, but it was a great deal. I'll post pics ASAP. I can't wait to have it ready to play! Just a little tlc and bam! Back soon with pics.
