My VP is 9lbs 13oz, according to Sweetwater. The heaviest they had.

Even a bathroom scale should get you within 1/2 lbs. if you weigh yourself with the bass and without the bass and do a bit of cyphering.

I have a hard time believing that there could be that much variation in weight from the sub 8 lbs. we’ve heard and your near 10 lbs. VP.

Have you weighed it yourself? Curious minds want to know.

Been searching for 2 years for a screaming deal on an L2000. Wasn’t a screaming deal, but was one of the best prices on a used USA. Still has life in the factory strings

Finally decided to quit procrastinating and assemble this pedal board. Even got the first coat of stain on it, gonna let it dry overnight, then decide if it needs a second coat. Every piece except the bottom piece of wood is just scrap 3/4” Oak, even the top is gonna be scrap oak pieces biscuited together.
Is it overkill in every way? Fvck ya. But I’m probably going to store some extra pedals on it too.

Just fill the slots with super glue gel, a thin layer at a time until you have enough built up too give it another try filing. Just don't tell the Nut Police.

I love those basses! The first bass I bought brand new was a 1980 L1000 and loved that thing. Got stolen in 1986, but it sure was a great bass

Rabbet corners. Same with the bottom, so the bottom board sits flush with the sides.

I’m pondering this neck dive thingy with the VT’s. I winder if the weight difference is stricktly in the body. If the lighter weight VT’s are trimed from the body in any way that could account for the issue.

I wonder what's different about yours than most of 'em. There's always one that has this issue or that issue. It's a shame you got the one with neck dive. I also wonder if there's a way we can collectively figure out to solve the problem.

Neck dive is no big deal. You're dealing with a bass designed in the 60's, ergonomics what's that?

Lots of tone options in those basses! But the one to die for is the passive setting, kept mine there most of its life. Really like that sparkle finish - kind of a laid back plum crazy (for us car nutz).
