Suffering from severe option anxiety for what I want my next ‘Bird to look like. Want to figure out something one of kind without straying too far from a traditional design. Thought i had my heart set on another reverse, then I saw this picture of Gatemouth Brown’s firebird...

Oh I'm not retracting my previous statement. But cars were the first thing that popped in my mind... quickly followed by innuendo

@JIO has already done one of my basses. He also knocked it out of the park and will do at least one more. I also have a desire to work with @Dadagoboi not only for his amazing finish work, but for his passion for all things ‘Bird related
Been for sale for at least 6 months. Until recently they wanted $2500 or something crazy. If you look at the Reverb listing, you can see the crack coming through the paint, and the black on the headstock is crappy (unless it's a reflection)
I'd love to buy it, but I don't think it's worth what they want for it.
You won't be disappointed i'm sure.

I have no doubt! I’m sure I’ve shown my Drake that @JIO did, but just in case, here’s a before and after...
Both are the same awesome sounding bass, but JIO’s remake suits my aesthetic so much better. I commissioned him for his skills and aesthetics, but the impressive part was how much care he took to make sure HIS great work was for MY bass. We’ve never met or even spoke on the phone, but he feels like a friend to me via this collaboration. Carlo and I have had a couple nice PM exchanges and I could see where a similar friendship could happen. Spent my whole life collaborating with artists and this feels like an extension of that

Now that’s an idea I could get on board with. I tried a couple of Jags out a while back and really liked the weight and the neck, but the sound was a little thin for me...

Bird > tuner > Mooer Pure Octave > EHX Crayon overdrive > MarkBass CMD 112P combo.
I love the markbass, having bought it to replace my trusty old Behringer BHX3000 1x15, which was slowly destroying my spine. Thinking of getting a 1x12 extension (either the newer Eden offering, or a Markbass NY121 if one came up at the right price) to give me a bit more headroom and to open the amp up to the full 500w, but that’s not a priority at the moment.

If it were in mint condition and about half the price it would be a great deal, $700 less than asking would be market for that bird.
If it was a nice repair that wasn't coming through the finish, the black on the face of the headstock didn't look like it was done with a Crayon, and had the original case, I'd say he's not too far off of what would be a decent price. But like you said, in it's current condition, I wouldn't shake a stick at it for anywhere close to what he wants.
I have a SS Jag that has a P bass pup to die for but unfortunately a completely anemic Jazz pup at the bridge. Carlo has already demonstrated that a bird pup route will fit right over a Jazz route. I've already installed an East P/MM preamp in the Jag. I wonder how the two band MM Stingray preamp would sound with a Bird pup in the bridge position? Probably better than the Jazz pup that's there now.
My guess is that, all the anemic will go away.
LOL - come to think of it, I don't think I've ever heard the words "Thunderbird" and "Anemic" ever used in the same sentence, so you're probably right.
