The yba 200 is supposed to be just 4 or 8 ohms, but I keep reading reports that they’ll run fine at 2 ohms

It seems most amps lately only go to 4. I was surprised to find the Strategy can run 2ohms

Interesting. The manual says, "As long as the total speaker load is not lower than 2-ohms, Speaker Load settings of 4- ohms or 8-ohms are interchangeable. Choose the setting that sounds best to you."

And then:

Power @ min. impedance (Watts): 200 @ 4/8 ohms switchable
Minimum Impedance (Ohms): 2

Extension speaker cabinets are connected using the Speaker ¼-inch output jacks. Connections to these jacks are in parallel. Using the Speaker Load switch, the output of the YBA200 can be optimized to provide the rated full power (200 watts) for selected loads (8ohms or 4-ohms).

Note: As long as the total speaker load is not lower than 2-ohms, Speaker Load settings of 4ohms or 8-ohms are interchangeable. Choose the setting that sounds best to you.

Both my current Mesa amps do 2ohms. They’re good that way

I try very hard to refrain from unsportsmanlike conduct. I'm too full of myself as it is.

With valve amps it depends on the output tranformer. Solid state amps tend to get bad diarrhea with 'difficult loads'. Being able to drive a 2Ω load without the majick smoke appearing is a sign of a well engineered SS power amp.
