I spent forever getting this out of a private collectors paws only to be hit with a huge bill in taxes, I owe more then I ever have so unless one of my other 5 basses that have sat for months sells then I have to get rid of the zebrabird, sad story but at least I get to look at it for now, its like art. If I had a nice house I would get a display case and have this hanging on the wall.
"She will be mine, oh yes......." etc. etc.

LOL I put all my gear up on craigslist, we shall see if this birdy flies away.

Does anybody know much abour grain filling. I am thinking about stripping my mahogany tbird body, raising the grain and makina a wood filler with black indian ink and water mix to show off the grain then do a dark grey clear coat (or even try and black burst) finish... has anyone tried this sort of thing? Checked pootube/ instructables etc, but was wondering what other people have done?
Hope you get to hang on to it. My move when these situations arise is to try to sell the most replaceable things first, then move to the painful stuff. On the other hand, Uncle Sam will take payments

I stopped by the brand-spankin'-new Warwisck/Framus showroom today. So awesome. Just about everything in there is from the Custom Shop so it generally starts around $3000, but its amazing. They had one of the Adam Clayton signature model reversed Explorers that I would shoot somebody to have in a flipped over configuration. Quilt maple top on that one was SPECTACULAR. A Warwick TBird would be awesometastic.I AM surprised to hear that of Nash-villeespecially for the strings.

Only what I did working at Taylor Guitars about 20 years ago. Back then they used a color matched paste filler. Brush it on, let it dry and buff it off, then into the spray booth to get the first UV coat. They've totally changed things since then. Now they use a clear paste filler. That's about as much as I know about that, since I only know they did it by watching a factory tour (didn't look at all familiar to me. LOL!) on Yoot Ube.

There maybe hope for this I have wanted one of these for years and finally found one so there not very replaceable, I have a few geeeetars I dont play one worth around $2000 and its being viewed tomorrow by someone serious enough to drive 2+ hour, that would pay the tax man. If that goes then the bird stays. I just love the look of where the wings meet on this. Anyways thanks for the luck guys

First off i'd like to say: i love the zebrawood bird, looks better in picture from person's camera than online advertising way back when. Second, my old man recently told me that when he bought the blackbird, beforehand the salesman brought down a dan armstrong bass in purple which was 900$ and my dad loved it....but really wanted a thunderbird. He doesn't regret having gotten the blackbird (although it was damn expensive and he had always feared having it stolen when he was working) but he does wish he had bought that Purple bass. luckly for him, his son has talent in many shapes & forms so i'm most likely building one in the future for him. With a few modifications of course (bridge and tuners are one thing, & most likely using an EBO pickup cause the replacement armstrongs are expensive)

Thats DI from my SVT-4pro, 2 tracks overdubbed. Recorded as 1 clean track with tone rolled off and solo'd on the neck, and second neck and bridge wide open with 50% tone, and a little reverb and enough gain to break it up a little...oh and tuned to D standard lol
So 3 shows, 11 sets at 3 venues for the Classic Pro and thank the Lord they don't make any more colors!!! Burst doesn't count I would have to buy one of each if they did. I spent some time this week tweaking my TC RH450 - Zoom B3 and wow did it pay off. Had quite a few of my musician friends at these shows and they were all super impressed with the looks and tone. All the low end I thought I had with my jazz bass was re-discovered.

Sounds good man!! I doubt that my computer speakers do it justice, but it sounded great to me!!
The ACG EQ01 boards are 22mm deep so don't need the depth of the Retro in the cavity.
