I want Warwick to make use this headstock design on a hybrid of the Explorer and Thunderbird shapes with humbuckers and almost anything other than a three point bridge. Preferably in a deep blue quilt maple top.

So 3 shows, 11 sets at 3 venues for the Classic Pro and thank the Lord they don't make any more colors!!! Burst doesn't count I would have to buy one of each if they did. I spent some time this week tweaking my TC RH450 - Zoom B3 and wow did it pay off. Had quite a few of my musician friends at these shows and they were all super impressed with the looks and tone. All the low end I thought I had with my jazz bass was re-discovered.

I always enjoy reading this kind thing - The joy of discovery, it never gets old.

The ACG EQ01 boards are 22mm deep so don't need the depth of the Retro in the cavity.

Cool! Is there any possibility of a stacked pot version for a 3 hole configuration(I know very little about filter pre-amps)

It only comes in a stacked knob version. It comes with 4 stacks but you can leave out the highpass filter and the two lowpass filters will work perfectly well.

Just out of curiosity would you ever build a thunderbird shaped bass Alan? I remember you were fairly against jazz and precision shapes a while back. No funds at the moment sadly but would be nice to know

I am not a fan of copying other peoples work rather than disliking any particular bass so an exact copy no I would not do that. I am open to reworking things into my own style but have never thought about a Thunderbird.

Thanks very much for the kind words. Very busy at the moment so maybe at some point in the future. I am partial to a reverse offset it has to be said and have used it in several models.

So I got an unusual situation.I bought an Eden Wtdi box cause I wanted to give running direct a try.Here is where the problems start.My Goth Tbird has a horrible hsss..when I cut the di on.When its off no hsss.None of my other basses have this issue with the di box.

To further complicate matters,I thought I might have a grounding problem.So I pull off the bridge and find out that the stud that the bridge screw goes in that the ground connects to have been glued in at some point in the basses life.

So what can I do about this?I love the tone of the di box but the hsss is really annoying and I can't check the ground because the studs are glued in.Any ideas on how I might be able to reground it if that's even the issue?

I'd check the current wiring for any loose wires/bad solder joints, it would probably be worth a shot getting some shielding paint and re-do the control cavity and the pup cavities and possibly run a strip of copper foil to the middle stud of the 3 point bridge. Check your cables and jack socket as well.

Normally I would say check continuity, but that gets a bit difficult with pots and knobs in the mix. If there is good continuity then your ground is likely good.

The absolute BEST thing would be to tear it all apart but what a PITA that is! But, on the plus side you would know everything is dead on accurate.

Wouldn't it do it all the time though if something was loose or could it be that it won't do it until the signal gets boosted or something by the di.Cause when the di is off its dead silent.Which is why I checked it with my other basses.They are silent with the di on or off.

If the DI doesn't do it with ANYTHING else and only does it with the Thunderbird then the Bird may be suspect. First thing is to eliminate ALL possible variables. Still the Bird? Then something may be up with the bird. Time to start checking things there.

I had something similar happen with one of my basses a while back. Tried every bass I owned and all were hiss or hum free except the one. That narrowed it down to the bass. But out of dumb luck I just happended to grab a different instrument cable than I normally use and the hum was gone. Apparently the output jack on the bass was getting worn out and no longer making a good connection. The different cable had a slightly different shaped head and that was enough to make the difference. So give that a try too to see if it makes a difference on your bass.

Cut a piece of wire and strip the ends. Touch one end to a good ground and the other to the bridge hardware.
If its the glued in stud that is the problem then the hiss should go away when you ground the bridge with the jumper.

There is an eBay seller out of China that is always listing them for pretty cheap. No clue as to if they are legit or not but they look like the same thing and have the correct logo on them.
