Thunderbird Club

Sounds pretty close to me, a touch more "grind" from the 66 maybe?

They're in the same family, for sure! I'd say the '63 is a bit more airy and P bass like. A bit more pronounced in the upper mids and highs. The '66 is a bit hotter with more aggressive mids and less highs. So yeah, I think 'more grind' is a great way of putting it :)

THIS is Rock & Roll!!!! THIS makes me wanna do stupid sh!t!!! THIS makes me wanna see if I can drive faster than I can drink!!! THIS makes me wanna turn it up louder (regardless of how loud it already is)!!! I WANNA HEAR MORE!!!:bassist::cool::thumbsup:

Forgive me for saying so... but if you're planning to master/mix from where it currently sits... don't over-do it! Keep that raw live rockin' feel you've already got. If this comes out of the mix-master sounding like Whitesnake's album from 1987... I'mma grab a 96 ounce Big Gulp of Mountain Dew & a 2x4 & take a li'l trip to Canada;)

Hahaha! Thanks! We all grew up on the Cult, G 'N' R, AC/DC and listen to stuff like Nashville Pussy, Turbonegro, The Bronx and Cobra Skulls. We just play what we want. 70's/80's ish rock with modern vocals. It's super fun!

And our singer always says "man, these songs make me want to go ripping down a highway on motorbike!" which all of us do except for him! :roflmao:

Alright...same clip from yesterday, but the second pass is not the NR41 with the TB '66 installed

I found the '66 to be quite close to the stock 2014 Gibsons. The '66 had the edge in terms of attitude. I like that one a lot! I like the idea of the '66 in the bridge & a '63 in the neck. The '63 definitely cops more of a P-bass vibe. Are you leaning one way or the other for your NR41?

I respectfully disagree. "Mpre gring" is not a great way of putting... well... anything :roflmao:

I'm on the fence, but leaning toward keeping the '66 in there at this moment. I didn't make a clip, but through my M9 and sealed 212, I kinda prefer the '66's. On this recent clip, it's a toss up...one is a bit more clear and open, one is a bit more aggressive, both in a good way

I had already fixed that, but somehow, I knew you'd get to it first! You are a horrible person, and I mean that :)

Well... @Dr_Feelgoood212 is busy at school today, so...

You already know the answer... another NR41! One for each pup! It's the only logical solution:D

I like the '66 based on the clip. You can always roll off the volume just a hair if you need to. You can't turn it up to 12 if it only goes to 11.

I couldn't agree more about it not being a "shootout" but just a side to side comparison of three, and now four outstanding options. It tells me my 2001 will keep its stock pickups and keep Black Beauties. It also tells me the '91 is probably going to get a set of Thunderbucker 66 pickups one of these days. Probably with Cobalt Flats. Just to be ornery.

I certainly wouldn't be bummed by having another Cataldo and both pickups!...my next one would more likely be a REV since I already have an NR
