Thunderbird Club

I tried two of them but they wouldn't screw down very far so I was extra careful not to force it.

Maybe you accidentally tried the two metric screws - Try using the other two...

The difference between metric and imperial screws is very subtle, but significant enough to make a difference.

Either that or you've just been unlucky and gotten 4 metric ones in the box...

IN with this baby.
Planning to trade it in for a Vintage Sunburst Classic Pro IV when they come out in May. And if I'm a good boy, a Gibson T-Bird next year.

EDIT: no trade for now... totally in love with her.

So the bridge is on and it's looking great.

Thanks for all your help guys.

Love your sig !

I've always wanted a Sunburst bass and the T-Bird is absolutely gorgeous in that finish, so I'm definitely getting one. Last winter, I spent a few months looking in shops and online to find a Sunburst passive neck-through T-Bird, to no avail. Then I learned that Epiphone were only shipping them later this spring... I couldn't wait that long, because I wanted one badly. Actually dreamed about it ! The white one popped up in the locals... not the right color, but with the right specs, so I went for it.

As mentionned earlier, not so sure about a trade-in anymore... I really love the looks on this one and it plays and sounds great. So I might be owning 2 T-Birds ...

The Classic Pro-IV in Vintage Sunburst have been available for the last couple of years together with the Alpine White.

They are the closest you get to an actually Gibson T-bird with almost identical build and original Gibson pickups but at a fraction of the price.

I would definitely get one in each colour! :)

Yup, I know.
But up here, the only Sunbursts I saw in the local shops were either the active model or the bolt-on model, both of which I tried, but decided to wait. I almost pulled the trigger on an active neck-through one because of an awesome deal I was offered by the shop, but nixed it. So either the shops were sold-out or they never ordered the Classic Pro-IV. As you mention, the Classic Pro-IV is the closest you can get to the Gibson. And since getting a 'Burst brings it even closer, that's sorta where I'm heading, if I can find a way to justify it to myself.

Thunderbirds are different beasts indeed !

I'm curious... what amp(s) best complement the T-Bird ? Highly subjective, I know, but I'm tinkering with the idea of upgrading the Rumble. No complaints about it, but still.... I wonder ? Budget will likely be under 1000 $.
Both my heads sound thunderously awesome with the Bird. An Ampeg SVT-3 Pro and a GK 800RB. Both are pretty much classics of the type, so it figures that they'd sound great with El Birdo.
