Beautiful bass and a great tip! Thanks so much! I ordered mine without rings. We’ll see how that goes, but I really like the spartan look Jeff got on his ‘Bird with the rings off. Easy fix should I change my mind![]()

Babicz is installed on the 2001. I hope the pixie dust didn't stick to the 3 point. Intonation is more or less set, and the string heights are about right. I might be able to lower them even more, but there's a point of diminishing return. I don't have the kind of finesse that lets you play with a paperclip's worth of space between the strings and frets. I think it looks good. The 2001 will keep its black trim, and it's going to keep its stock pickups. Next mod - d-tuners for the 2001 and 1991.
I'll agree that the materials used are individually beautiful for the most part... but IMHO, there's at least 4 basses worth of inlay material on that one bass, which (again... in my opinion) leaves "ostentatious" in the dust & goes straight to gaudy. The body wood is absolutely beautiful... so why they would choose to cut it into such a weird skerglankety little body, is beyond me. Is it beautiful? Yes. Is it a beautiful bass? Not to me.I mean, it's a bit gaudy but not ugly by any definition I'd use. I couldn't see spending $10,000 on a bass much less $250,000 so any arguments for or against this bass are meaningless.
Damn... looks like that thing was built for that place! It's the only place it would blend in!Yes, it would be right at home in the P&W band here...

Beauty is definitely subjective. Heck, my girl still says I’m good looking. My mirror can not confirm her findings![]()
I play mine for whatever style of music I am playing. Of course most of that is rock, but I find Thunderbirds to be far more versatile than the the general TB population claims. Thanks guys. Just wondered if you guys who play thunderbirds use it as purely as a rock bass! I’m finding it quite versatile.

You’d never find it!
That's ok with me.
Perfectly worded! And I was just telling a friend at lunch, “you know, I just don’t think the word ‘skerglankety’ gets used nearly often enough these days”
Even less amazing... I'd never look for it!You’d never find it!
There’s a lot of this going on...
