Sweetwater says this - 1 x master volume (I know that!), 1 x blend (Yup, sorted), 2 x high/low EQ (not really?), 1 x mid parametric EQ (that's the 3rd knob, for sure), 1 x mini-switch (active/passive) (maybe my battery is dead, but it's hard to tell which is which).

In an early write up I'd seen on the RD re-ish, the knobs were listed as Volume, Blend, High, Low, Mid, and Mid Sweep, with an active/passive mini-toggle...

"ArctiCat" is a snowmobile manufacturer. I wouldn't be surprised if that's enough to keep Kat from using the name...

Hmm... that makes WAY more sense. I think that one on the end is the "mid-sweep", the noisy one.

Even the Gibson site isn't clear on it. (That, and I don;t really, truly, understand what "parametric" means).

Sounds like it! Just going from that one clip, there’s seems to be a lot of hard, fast ‘smack’ right at the start of the note, which I like a lot for some things I do. Kinda similar to a Wal. Is that fair to say, or are my earbuds playing tricks on me?

That's a good thing, especially with non tilt headstocks. Much easier with a quick release bridge or tailpiece, you just wind on the post and slip into slot when appropriate. Practice makes the job easier.

You're dead-on there. The punch at the start of the note is huge. And it carries. The body is ridiculously thick. I'll weigh it tonight, but it reminds me of the heft of the Dan Armstrong I had for a while.

Just watched your video again, and I'm thinkin' yer right about the noisy pot on the end.

I was quite tentative about the active system in there... but that thing has a nice bark to it!:cool::thumbsup:

(You're not alone. I too am among the parametrically uninformed)

Is there anything more unpleasant than cleaning the microwave............

I'm thinking of tying mine to the bumper of the Subie and taking it to the landfill...........................
Then I could just buy a new one :woot:

That mid eq is technically called ‘semi-parametric.’ It’s also a great idea if you’re using active electronics, in my opinion. In this case, one knob selects a frequency center and the other knob boosts or cuts that frequency center. Fully parametric would add a third knob to adjust how wide or narrow the frequency center, or ‘q’ is.

Out shaking the trees today. I have had my eye on this for a while. 1970's 7ender Bassman 10. All tube, remakably clean . Got it for the princely sum of $350. Sounds great at low to moderate volume, if I wanted to crank it I would have to replace the speakers with something beefier. It was lost over in the guitar section. I guess today's players don't know what a killer amp this is for guitar. It's gunna look great in my bass room.
