There will always be all manner of Precisions available. We have been waiting since '65 for the return of a decent Thunderbird. How long will Epiphone make the Vintage Pro? I say get 'em while you can.

Part of my thinking in importing one, given our problems with an importer in Oz.
I am hoping they will continue to make them like the JC Signature and introduce some more colours, but who knows what will happen.

BTW Really like mine- they are very good!

Advice please. I am thinking of changing out the standard tuners on my Epi VP for purely aesthetic reasons. I know I am shallow.
I reckon it would look even better with the long stem elephant ear key and the large base plate (like the Kluson tuners on 50s Fenders and the original TBirds). The ones on it look like the bigger key ones Fender used in the 70s.

Can I get tuners like the old Klusons that don't require modification of the headstock- ones I have bought in the past require shallow divots to be drilled in the back of the headstock and I don't want to do that?

If so, what model and brand?

There's another thread out in GenPop regarding the VP and as I recall JohnK changed his tuners out to Resolites for the same reason, also Hipshot makes a drop D tuner
