Thunderbird Club

The downside of doing remote sessions for a band that lives a couple thousand miles away...

First version sent...band leader loves it, so I print and send. An hour later one of the members thinks this part is too busy or that part isn't busy enough...do another couple takes and send. "Perfect!" An hour later the drummer (the drummer!) points out that in one lick I play a G note in the key of A major. (me) "I know, flat 7...pretty common accidental to use." (drummer) "But it's in A Major." (me) "Correct. I did it on purpose. Want me to change it?" (drummer) "Yes." (guitarist) "Wait, I kinda like it." (band leader) "Maybe just print a few versions of that section so we can choose later." So alternate takes of the turnaround, chorus, bridge and outro so the band can argue about it come mix time...sheesh, that was frustrating. They all loved the bass sound, so that was nice. Now the entire record will be either the '02 Gibson or the Cataldo, depending on the song. Poor P bass got kicked to the curb :)

Jeez, Mark, I'm with the drummer here... when you played a G note in the key of A major... well, wow... it just threw me off my axis and I couldn't get back to where I needed to be for the rest of the track. I felt like I was derailed... what were you thinking?! o_Oo_Oo_O

Of course I'm kidding because I have no idea what you and the drummer are talking about and everything sounded great from start to finish.

:)

I'm sending this with a bunch of caveats...this is the session I did tonight. ONLY the drums and maybe the bass are keeper tracks...guitars are scratch and the scratch vocals were muted...the bass is high in the mix to demonstrate em. One clean bass track, one dirty track, blended. Beat the living snot out of the bass with a pick to get a very raw sound

Sounds great !

They are a descendant of ACC. So, of course they are good amps. Plus they are solid state, which always disturbs the snobs.

I didn’t know there was any connection! Only heard one once and it was a great sounding amp.

You know, just a couple days ago in this very club, my enabling skills were (rudely!) called into question, as if I wasn’t committed to the team. Well, I fought through the pain and frankly, the shame and enabled the sh!t out of some nice fella who just bought that 2013 Gibson with the spiffy pickguard and TB66 pickups at a steal of a price. He PM’d me just yesterday and we chatted quite a bit about T Birds. He purchased the bass this morning at a very good price. So for all you doubters (haters seems a tad harsh), I expect a full written apology (looking at you fixer)

We have this expression around here. "Pics or it didn't happen". Familiar with it? :eyebrow:
