I tried a set of the LaBella Low Tension Flats on my Epi T-bird ... just didn't like the difference in feel between the E & A and the D & G strings ... as a long time user of TI flats, that's whats going back on the T-Bird

Well, I was certainly a very awkward teenager, I loved Rock and even though I was just a newb playing the bass at least got me invited to play music and go to some parties - I was still a loser tho!

I think Scott has a shot a High School buddy posted on FB some time back, I'd quite forgotten it.......'70s fashion nightmare!

Let's talk about that Rick, it was an N.O.S. '73 4001 that I bought from Mike Lull at a shop in Bellevue, WA. just before he went out on his own. I played the guts out of that bass, wish I'd kept it.

For a second I thought it was Felix Pappalardi!

Did a test fit of the hardware on my fender-bird build this afternoon.
She sounds lovely acoustically ( quite mid-rangy with a decent top end ).
Balance wise, it's a bit neck heavy, but not excessively. I think once the body has had several coats of nitro-cellulose, the pickups fitted and I use lightweight machineheads it will balance much better

That was at an uncles farm in Kentucky. Think I was 14 +/- at that time.

I am back after, some comms problems. Appears my internet carrier couldn't access Talkbass. All fixed now.
Great pic. I still have the bass I had in the 70s- my old Flying V. It is the only thing I have from those days. I understand your regret at selling that old Ric.
Cool Ric. I don't think there are any pics of me from back then, but, although I didn't have the suave hat, I did have trousers like that. Do I see platforms peeking out from under your trousers?

Mark progress on the Badbird II is painfully slow I have been promised a prototype late this month. Also working on black 60's tailpieces so you can use with the stock black threepoint if the BB II isn't for you. The tail piece while looking cool gives added string length so no windings over the saddles and a greater angle string break over the saddles. Also coming are nickle plated 60's style bridge and pickup covers

That sounds great. I have been considering the need for just that for my 08 Gibson TBird because the string winds sit over the saddles for the E and A strings and I do worry whether the string could break.
I am trying to decide whether to "deblack" the bass (tuners, pickups, bridge) as well because I am attracted to the Thunderbucker upgrade and if I am going to do that may as well go for the tuners and 3 point change as well. Or do I buy one of those lovely white Epis and upgrade it and keep the Gibson basically stock with maybe a black tail piece? So many decisions.

Well it's not a picture of me in the90's cause in that decade i was a baby (already on the path of being a born bass player). Here's me, 3-4 years ago with my high school band War Crocodiles, cause we never had a steady name & we came up with that for this first show. I'm playing none other than my trusted bass for the past 5 years (now retired & only used during recording). It's an eastwood precision copy i got used for 180$ w/gig bag. Still has the same masking tape design on it after all theses years just with more blood, sweat & most of the tape is gone where i rest my hand naturally . We went for the beatles clean look although we just had the jackets & they were off by the 3rd song when we rocked out the place .

None of the guys play music in bands anymore except for myself. Although the guitarist does still play, it's more his hobby than anything full time like me. Wonder if they'd get back together for a couple rehearsals just for old time sake.

Anyone here within pickup distance of NYC interested in a free Gator Pro Go bass bag? They fit the Thunderbird. This one was replaced by Gator under warranty since the stitching started separating in one part. Probably nothing some glue or duct tape couldn't fix, but I wanted it properly dealt with. Only other weird thing besides the tear is that I had to write with silver paint marker "FIELD DESTROY" on each side before Gator would send me a new one. If you have a band called Field Destroy, this could be fate!

Thanks, it was during the song In bloom - nirvana. We were a four piece band but the singer decided to step out of the vocals for this one song so it was the first one performed so he could jump on stage afterwards for the remainder of the show.

Loll, Most likely, but as i've said, we went for the beatles attire or suits. It was my suggestion just to have like one thing match up for the show at first.

Alrighty, I love the TV silver but the pups aren't wowing me. I had put TV jones in my other bird and sold that...never really set it up right. Should I go for another set especially since they have the mag version. Or should I spring for thunderbuckers? Or...
