Pine Knob, not the Joe. Center of Row H on the main floor. Totally incredible.

From Wikipedia: Metallica supported Ozzy Osbourne from March to August, headlined a string of U.S. dates .... July 21, 1986, Clarkston, Michigan, Pineknob Music Theater.

And the greatest show I was ever at happened 6 years later. Guns N' Roses/Metallica Stadium Tour - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is the show where the Jumbotron operator found all the hot chicks in the audience and put them on the big screen at different levels of un-dress(they were stripping for the cameras). This was while waiting for GnR to take the stage... I think it was about a 2 hour wait. Both bands were at the top of the games and this by far is the most memorable concert event I've had the pleasure of going to.

I saw Metallica/GnR with Body Count at Jack Murphy Stadium in San Diego, September 30, 1992. Body Count killed it (not a fan, but credit where it's due), Metallica was as good as I'd seen 'em the last couple times, and GnR...sucked. Totally, completely, and front to back, side to side, and end to end. They were a bloated caricature of themselves and didn't even look like they were having fun. Contrast that with their show at Motezuma Hall at SDSU (2/8/88 with TSOL opening) when they were just starting to tour and were still showing up for shows. They were awesome. IIRC, TSOL's bassist was playing a TBird....but don't hold me to that; it was a little while ago).

The guy from TSOL used to play Thunderbirds a lot. He snapped the headstock off one at a club gig here once. There was a metal pole waaaay to close to the edge of the stage and he swung around and smacked the headstock into the pole. :banghead:

Off the bat there's already things i'd do to it. Reshape the headstock, the bridge looks kinda off so might just reposition that (unless its the picture angle), then i'd repaint it to either match like a tarantula (& i'm arachnophobic :S ) or something else. no idea what, but any case, if the pickups don't sound good, i'd swap them too. & most definately, remove the pickguard.

It's *throwback thursday*!!! :)

I've been digging in the archives, and now it's my turn to post a bunch og embarresing golden oldies...

First up is me 16 years old Xmas 1977:

Fast forward to 1978 - 2 pictures with my first band The Brats (one of the first danish punk bands, that later merged into the influential metal band Mercyful Fate):

Next up is 1980 with my band Raven, which was a power-pop band, heavily influenced by The Jam:

Raven later added a female singer and changed name to The Pin-ups, which recorded an album in 1981:

Left The Pin-ups just before the record came out and joined a bizarre band called Gottlieb & The Gigoloes (1981-82):

The only picture with my Marshall full-stack and 3 stage basses (Ric 4001, Fender P and Ibanez Musician 8-string).

A couple of years later I decided to play keyboards instead and sold everything... Doh!!!

So I guess I out-stupied even Mark... ;)
