I'm personally really happy you get through strings as fast as you do. That way I don't have to try quite so many different strings to have an idea of what they are like.

Ha! Well, with roundwounds on T Birds, I personally like em really fresh, especially for recording. The set that was on there weren’t bad. If it were a P bass I would’ve left em on a bit longer. My ‘02 has Cobalt flats. It’s ‘that’ sound, but you don’t have to think about changing them too often. They sound more or less the same for a very long time. The piano just doesn’t get terribly angry with those as much as with fresh rounds :)

It's a mildly irritated piano. I have those on the '91 with Chinabuckers. It sounds plenty good enough until I spring for Thunderbuckers or Lulls or Lollars or something.

HOT DIGGETY DOODLE!!! I just SCORED!!! My place has been like a friggin' sauna these past couple days! I've been lookin' around at A/C units & couldn't find one at a price I could work with. As I began to sweat it out again today, it occurred to me to check Craigslist. A guy had just put up a posting stating that he'd just gotten central air & had 3 window units (2 - 5,000BTU & 1 - 12,200BTU) for sale. All 3 of them blew cold, so I grabbed 'em! Got 'em all for 80bux!!! That'll give me one (or maybe even two) that I can resell & get my money back! :hyper::hyper::hyper:

I presume you'll keep the BooKoo BTU unit. Sounds like you're gonna need it. I'll be needing a new one myself. Dread the thought of spending money on that.

Like so many times before, i must revamp one of my birds. Taking my snowbird back to chrome. I had TB+ set into chrome covers, wish i kept those. I had the china ones, they sucked. The other options i know of are all way expensive. Anyone have chrome gibsons or a idea?

Now id really like a set of the new epiphone puckups but those aren't available

I'm gonna try 'em out in different combinations & see what works best. The 2 - 5,000 BTU units are 2 year old Frigidaires. The bigger one is older. I may keep the 2 smaller units & sell the big guy. I think that would be more efficient...

Endless modifications and changes are half the fun.

I hesitate to post this in the case one of you poaches it while I try to scrounge money...on a totally unrelated note, anybody need a Rick?

Vintage 1968 Gibson Non-Reverse Thunderbird II
Anything you need, you have two of. You can sell one of 'em. Kidneys or lungs, for example. Only one brain. What's that tell you? Or sell the Ric. That 'Bird needs to be yours.

String update. All my local stores only carry Rotos in the SS version, so I ordered a set of nickels online and thought they were pretty darn good. A friend of mine loves the stainless Rotos so I just put em on my 2014 Gibson ‘Bird. They aren’t terrible, but I don’t see me ever getting em again. For SS strings, I still prefer DR Lo Riders

After all those years of using RS66s, I'm trying to remember the last set I had. They went on really bright, to the extent they were making that 'wick wick' sound and then went dead really quickly.

Switching to nickels was a big improvement.

The Bass Burners sound the same as when they went on. Our man in Florida is right about their longevity.

"Black Betty" just might be the perfect song.
Friend of mine has an internet radio show (Breaking Metal). He was considering putting a show together that showed just how old some songs really are. He played me a recording of Black Betty recorded by Leadbelly in 1932.

Can't do that anymore, Haji? Did someone get a restraining order? :roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:
Autocorrect strikes again. I knew all the cops in OG up until about two years ago, and there is kind of a long story about how one of the rooms in what was the manufacturing division was nick named Dead Hooker Storage. I was laid off there in 2016 and now I work for the state of TN.
