Really cool Bass! I play lefty but no matter where I look I can not find a 5 string Epiphone thunderbird for lefties do you know where I could find one?

Unfortunately, two words that never seem to go together when it comes to basses are "lefty" and Epiphone". I can't remember ever seeing one, although they must have made a few sometime in the past. Guitars, yes - I have a very nice Sheraton II - but no basses. Best I can tell you is just keep looking (which is how I found this - apparently unique - Gretsch Broadkaster) or grit your teeth, save your pennies, and have Mike Lull make you one. Being a lefty is a pain sometimes...:)

I've got GHS black tapewounds on my Gibson TBird. My favorite strings by a long shot... they just don't look good on every bass, IMO.
Well, I am hoping to buy an Alpine White Epiphone Thunderbird Classic. They should look good on that. Although I'm leaning towards La Bellas new gold tapewounds...they're incredible!
As black strings go, though, I have La Bellas on my Dean Exotica acoustic bass and GHS on my P bass.

Cant just someone make tapewounds the same color as regular strings?

They would definitely be great looking on a Alpine White Classic.

Lol your not kidding ife found a brand called dillion that makes a impressive looking copy of a t-bird looks awesome but i am skeptical about how well it plays everyone says there a great brand but ive never heard of them i wish i could try em out before i buy

La Bella does. Their White Tapewounds are actually clear nylon over stainless steel, the copper whites are clear nylon, and the new gold tapewounds are clear "tape" as well.

Ive heard about them but I was also told they have a different sound from the black ones. What do you think? If the white ones have the same kind of sound as the typical black tapewounds Ill get a set in a few months

I've heard good things about them, too, but have never had my hands on one; Las Vegas is surprisingly lacking, music-wise - especially for it's size. As for trying before you buy, I hear ya. Being a lefty means sometimes you just have to take a chance; which is why we tend to die earlier, I guess...;)

Here's a video for the new Gold Tapewounds. I think think they still have the nice tapewound thump, but you can get more expressive with them. It's all in the way you play, of course.

Not the best video representation...

Obnoxious slap/popping style and when he finally plays "normally" his playing is overpowered by a very loud drum machine... :P

Looks great Larry!
How did you end up repairing it?

Just like in the video. I made a scraper with a single edged razor blade, taped the ends of the "scraper" to give me a max depth and shaved the glue down.

Then I used 1000 grit sandpaper strips to remove the last of the glue. Finished it with polishing compound. Eazy-peazy!
