Thunderbird Club

You're an angel!!!! Thank you :)

Yes from the side so I can see how the height of the banding changes and the how the body changes at the neck angle.

Thanks you so much again, I just can't find these pictures on the net at all
No probs, I'll take a few pic and post them. Are you building one?

Here's me playing it at a gig last year. The Gold Tops change colour under stage lighting.

It is one helluva bass BTW.

Thank you :)

Yes, I just about to start a couple, not exact replicas but I want to keep the feel of the original, the design is so good it would be a shame to spoil some of those details that make it what it is

Are you going to "weight relieve"?

The originals are and they are quite giggable and balance pretty good.

What pickups?

Thanks, have you a picture from the bass side too?

You can see why the cost of the Les Pauls is high from those pictures, that's quite complex, they illustrate well how they differ from Fenders etc.

Yes I'm going to rout out pockets in the wings to remove the weight otherwise they would be a back breaker at 63mm thick. I've ordered a set of Mojo Thunderbird pups, they're a UK company handwinding their own. They're supposed to be very good but time will tell I suppose Invalid Link Removed

Yes, how's this? The TB+s that came standard are great, better than TBird TB+s IMHO.
Absolutely, I am so tired of pea brains telling me Gibsons are overpriced compared to Fenders. Fenders are essentially two sticks bolted together.

So much truth here.

HEAVEN is where:
The police are British
The chefs Italian
The mechanics are German
The lovers are French
and it's all organised by the Swiss

HELL is where:
The police are German
The chefs are British
The mechanics are French
The lovers are Swiss
and it's all organised by the Italians!!

:roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:
And you should:
Talk in Welsh (no doubt you will want to substitute your own language here)
Sing in English
Make love in French
And argue in German

Perfect thank you again, that's all I need. It's difficult to see exactly what's going on unless you get pictures from the right angles. I owe you a favour! :)

Not a prob, my dear. In a way it is lucky the maple cap stains differently so you can see what is going on.

BTW my son has a couple of LP 6 strings ( a Standard and a BFG) and they work the same way.

I have had a look at my LP Double Cut Bass and its maple cap is flat and looks to be about 5 mm thick right across. Much simpler.
