You look like somebody I would wanna call "Chuck". I don't think I could get comfortable with calling someone that looks like you, "Chucky". Maybe it's just the lighting or something... but you kinda got this thing about you that sez, "I have killed before... and I kinda liked it".

How I spent the weekend......
One of two nights at "The Metta Room" in Pt Angeles, had a great time the band pulled in a cool 3.5K and I only fell on my @#$ once after backing into the drum riser.

And here comes the sales pitch...

Nah... I'm just going to hold onto "Dorothy" for awhile longer. Someday someone will want it bad enough to cough up the $500. ;)

Nope! 1 of 400, Limited Edition Epiphone Custom Shop, mint condition. Not a mark on her and she really sparkles under the lights.... ;)

Oops... Got that description from Larry V...
It's a limited edition alright, but I have no idea about how many were made... ;)

I thought we had established somewhere here in this Club that the Limited Edition runs were 400?

Recently while visiting Nashville I had an opportunity to play a few Thunderbirds and liked them. Came home and picked up this '97......what I should say is "rescued" this one! It's been played hard and had a funky smell on it, to be polite. Took it to my set up guy and he cleaned it up, set it up and I'm working on getting the stank out of the case. Really light, well balanced with no neck dive and plays great. Drastically different from my Precisions but that's why I picked it up.

Congratulations on your new Thunderbird :)
I'd be more than happy to add you to our club good Sir!

Not sure what it is but I am always drawn to a Humbucker sound vs a single coil on both guitars and basses. As opposed to the HSS Strat, try to talk him into a Blacktop Strat. I have one and it runs circles around my HSS and SSS Strats. They're probably discontinued now but used Blacktops are still very obtainable and affordable here in the states (around $400). The thing he'll like vs an LP is the vintage Strat neck and Alder body, not to mention the familiar Strat shape and feel.

The magic is in the super hot Humbuckers and unique 5 way switch that solos, splits and combines the coils of the two Humbuckers as follows...
1. Full bridge Humbucker
2. Outside bridge single coil plus outside neck single coil
3. Both Humbuckers full on
4. Inside bridge single coil plus inside neck single coil
5. Full neck Humbucker

The other big difference is you actually get a tone knob dedicated to each pickup. That combined with the switching options gives you fantastic tone shaping. This beast can pull off a good LP sound as well as a Telecaster sound and everything in between. Here's a review of one...

Mine is black on black with a maple fretboard, here's a pic...

Oh yes, the Allan Holdsworth soon to be the Eddie Van Halen and everyone else's syndrome for a decade..

I believe your set up guy posted a video on setting up this particular bass? :p I seem to have seen this particular bass & case smell in that said video
