I really liked the re-issue G-3 a lot, Uwe had me pick one up here in the States and let me keep it for a few months before sending it to Germany, I loved how it sounded!

I almost got a G3 RI, but the ‘real’ ones just look and sound a bit cooler, so I’m holding out for the right one :)

I know! I'd always heard the sliding pup was"temperamental"but a P pup? Really?Sheesh!

I love Grabbers and P basses...
I also love asparagus and hot fudge sundaes, but I don’t like asparagus IN my hot fudge sundaes :)

I'd never played an original, thus couldn't compare, but the RI was nice, sounded real warm and growly with just my fingers, I had it tuned a half-step down to play a lot of Smithereens - creamy good!

Is there a general consensus at to whether the Bach t-birds are worthwhile?

Most people seem to like them, but like all basses they aren't for everyone. Also like all basses there are bound to be great examples, good examples, and 'meh' examples. Depending on which one you end up with your opinion may not be the same as someone else about the same model. I liked mine a lot and the guy that bought it loves it.

I had two, they're really quite nice set neck basses, the neck is right there when it comes to shape and profile. I found mine to be very good players. I put Lull pickups in them both and really loved the tone. Ultimately, I'm in the Reverse camp and regrettably let them both go, wish I'd kept the black one - it was sold recently.

I fall more in the Reverse camp as well.

Those covers would come off if it twer mine.
I take it that one's a BaCH? Don't laugh, i ask cause of the tailpiece.

That is my friend's Bach that he completely reworked. He did a great job and its a really nice bass. I get to play it sometimes when hanging at his place.

I thought so from what you said yesterday. His build post also has a 76. They look awesome together.

If I recall right, it was originally a white single pickup model.

In all seriocity, I've only had my own computer since 12/17. Used other people's PC's b4 that. Learning spit(sp?)as I go. Really need to get and keep a copy of "Computers for Dummies". One thing I've learned over the years is to be aware of what I don't know then either figure it out-if I can w/o screwing up something expensive- or, get help. The bro-in-law showed me a lotta stuff but, like the ground here in FL lately, I kinda reached a saturation point.:banghead:

I miss the days of booting from a 5 1/4 floppy.

No, I don't.
