Thunderbird Club

This place, Harpo’s has gone through some changes through the years and though I haven’t been here in 32 years one thing hasn’t changed... they still have their light up disco floor AND it still works!

I’m guessing it was put in 40 plus years ago.

I’m not sure why they put the lights on but I’m glad a snapped a pic since they turned them off after about a minute.
They knew you were there.

‘cause it finishes off the look of a Vintage 60’s TBird and that’s bad azz!

You’re opinion may vary but I’d do the same thing if I was going up on stage rockin’ my VP.
I would feel dishonest.

When people ask if my T-bird is a Gibson, I don't misrepresent it as one. I say (somewhat proudly) that it's an Epiphone.

Those who know what they’re looking at aren’t fooled and for those that don’t know, it wouldn’t matter.
It would sit ill with me. Also I feel like it would be presenting myself as being ashamed of playing an Epiphone, which I'm not.

And most people I know off this site don't know about the Vintage Pro.

Well, pickup is still sitting somewhere with USPS in LA, but I did just drop $300 on this:

That's cool as hell!:cool::thumbsup:

I believe the only good option is to drop the jack & pots inside the body, then fish 'em out one of the pup holes. After all the solder work, push everything back through the pup hole and get ready to start cussin' at it and repeatedly asking yourself why you ever chose to get into this f***ing mess as you use whatever tools you can get to reach inside to try to nudge them into the appropriate holes. I'd recommend color coding the pot shafts (or something) so you know what goes where.:)
Solder a wire to the top of the pots and drop them through==little leashes

Korn took a sorta similar stage to Red Rocks. It was more...kind of a light up panel rather than having light cans underneath. Really cool, though.

Hazard a guess thet the pups are held on metal brackets and the pots can be accessed with some dexterity using long tools through the pup holes and F holes
That's exactly how you work on an archtop. It's why it's one of those things I'm happy to to pay somebody else to do.

I love archtops. I love the way they look. I love the way they sound. I have three of them, counting the EB-2 and the two six string guitars. Life and everything is all about f-holes.

But, I won't work on one if I can help it.

My big ol sausage fingers barely fit into the openings, I cant imagine how I could put the pots back in when I cant even imagine pulling them out. Nothing scares me when it comes to modding and fabrication but this seems like something I may not try. I would love to find a video showin how its done but the only video I found the guy shows the removal of the pups and replacement but completely skips the pot removal and instalation, totally left out the money shot.
Fishing line solves a lot of problems.

That said, I don't have any interest in doing that kind of fiddly work ever again.

How did I get into a position where everything I type can be misconstrued as a lewd comment?
ehem

Hanging out here, mostly. We can misconstrue just about anything. It comes in handy when the singer starts thinking she's raunchy and you need to demonstrate what raunchy comments really are. We record our practice sessions. I hope they get properly edited before anybody with morals ever finds the recordings.

I would put a Squier logo on it if I could. Just to mess with people. It's one of those CroMagnon things, y'know.
