Do they usually come out at night? If so what have you been doing at night? You wouldn't be too pissed (drunk) to notice?

This might sound odd but has anyone ever had issues with the control cover on the back of any Epiphone Tbirds? Mine was apparently conducting static electricity every time it was rubbing against my leg when I play, and when it would move out and not touch my leg, it would make a sharp CRACK into the circuitry as the static discharged that was very annoying. It got to the point where I actually cut off the rough part of a sponge and taped it to the back to prevent static buildup. I don't even know if that's actually what happened but it makes sense to me. It's a minor problem overall but I just wanted to know if I was the only one with this issue.

When I first got my Epi 'bird... I was have a number of electronic issues with it. First and most obvious, was that the previous owner had swapped output jacks, and the one he put in was so long, that it was digging in to the shielding on the cover. Second, was a Busch-league soldering job. By the time all was said & done, I wound up replacing all pots, wiring, and the jack. It was a big ol' PIA, but the results were amazing! Night & day difference!
You can build up static when you wear something like Crocs on a polypropylene carpet ( I like wearing Crocs no matter how unfashionable they are)
I wear denim mostly, but I wear athletic shorts on occasion and it much more noticeable with those on. I think it happened with and without shoes, on and off carpet. I'm almost thinking it may be from a defect in the control cover itself.Hiya

I love PT 50s. Again, 7027s one of my favorite power tubes. Some claim that (P into Ampeg B-15) is the most recorded setup in music history. Then read Magnatones are really the unsung heros. dunno...
The B-15 is a superb sounding amp. I like to modify them with a SS rectifier. They sing like that..

Half of the time I'm using a scrappy little Crate BX-15, the other half my dad lets me use his SWR LA 15 or I'm using my personal favorite Peavey Combo 300, and I'm pretty sure on all 3 amps the "anomaly" occurred. What puzzles me the most is that I'm sure that Epiphone has very good quality standards/control, but how could an issue like this not be recognized and fixed in production by a professional company?

Yeah, in fact this is the first bass I personally own after my dad's Yamaha. Oddly enough it had the same back control plate placing as the Tbird yet I have no memory of ever having the same problem with it.
I've never had that problem, but I live in a relatively low static environment.
I feel fairly certain that it's a minor electrical issue like a bad solder joint or sup'm...
How long have you had it and have you had this problem before with it if you've had it a while. I'm still thinking it's an external thing
Does the control plate have shielding paint on it? If so, is it grounded?
