Give your kid a budget and let HIM find one on Ebay, CL , wherever. He's the one who's going to use it. Valuable experience IMO.That's interesting... thanks for chiming in. Anyone else with a similar opinion/experience?
Give your kid a budget and let HIM find one on Ebay, CL , whatever. He's the one who's going to use it after all. Valuable experience, etc.
LOL, he just turned 14... I can't cut him loose with my credit card but I certainly have him in the loop. It's something he wants and we're going to get it for him soon.
I'm sure he is. 14 year olds ALWAYS know what they want. Best time to start learning what it costs and make necessary adjustments. You're right and he is interested and involved.

The only thing that I'm trying to steer him into is a multi-effects pedal so that I'm not spending too much money in his quest for the perfect effect. I've read that pedals can be addicting and guys start going crazy with elaborate pedal boards that they sink a ton of dough into. I've got three kids and I try to spoil them equally but I have to set limits too.
I need help so I thought I'd ask you guys whom I've grown to trust and respect your opinions.
My son's practice amp that he keeps in his room has what I like to say is, "pedals built into it". He can get all kinds of different guitar grind, fuzz, metal, 50's, 60's... whatever out of it. He wants to get a pedal that can do that for him, on our music room amp which is a 4 ch. Roland KC-550. Is there such a beast or does he need to buy a bunch of different pedals?
I guess I'd need some sort of transistor........being a GK devotee. I don't get as attached to amps tho. So I just have Thunderbird tats
oooooh, shiny boxes!I've read that pedals can be addicting ...
