Got to keep the 5 strings together. I think the Studio V looks cool next to its Epi brother. :D

...and the 4 strings are together. :)

... and the group shot with my drummer messing around with his brother's Ibanez that doesn't get played by him any longer since he got his Gibson SG.

The Studio V is in really nice condition. I do need to replace a top hat and give her a good cleaning and on the back it'll need a good going over with rubbing compound to get out the light scratches. Other than that, it's all good! Sounds good, controls all work, no buzzing. Solid. Even came with a strap with strap locks! :hyper:

Stain to me is a LOT easier to do than paint. The hardest part is picking the the color you want. Its probably not strictly necessary but I'd think about doing a clear coat over the stain for wear resistance and ease of maintenance. That's a good lookin' body; I'm really lookin' forward to the finished project!
Thanks. I'm doing it in blue stain. Not sure yet if I'm trying for a burst or not. Pretty sure I'm either doing the black or dark blue and sand back with the light blue over it.
Still wondering about spraying clear lacquer or Tru-Oil over it. Never used Tru-Oil, but since it's getting to be fall and winter that slows down the lacquer application.

So the unthinkable happened today.
I shaved off a layer of lacquer from my VS gibby with my wedding ring :-(

I wasn't ready for this one to get any serious mojo yet either, so, armed with my wifes clear nail polish, a razor blade, and 3 sandpaper strips i set out to fix it.

I didn't even think about taking pics, but the end result is a completely invisible repair.
Gawd i love how easy nitro is to work with :-)

Glad you got it fixed up, Chris!

BTW, I already have my next bass "picked out". I'm going to sell my SG bass and replace her with a SS TBird. I wish I would have bought the one the guy who sold me the SG was selling.

I've got a couple on the chopping block here too.
I may be selling off the ibanez, the emg classic, and possibly the sg.
The sg may go for the sgz, but thats up in the air.
Unfortunately nothing bass-wise on the horizon, i just need about 2k to fuel my other addiction (my truck mods)

Your truck is sweet!

I've been thinking about a light mod for my truck. I'd like to put a couple of inches of lift on my Silverado and some bigger tires.

Thanks Larry!

I say go for it, but it won't end there...promise ; -)

My sister still has my dads old 2002 flareside silverado 2wd.

Currently trying to get her to agree to drop in a pontiac LS2 6.0 i found along with a T-56.
That would be a very fun truck after that lol

View attachment 688637 Little different direction than you, building axles right now and gathering parts to go fuel injection

Nice!
I used to be big time into 4x4's...then i moved to chicago...bleh...

Had one hell of a wrangler. Spent my entire enlistment bonus dropping a '95 mustang cobra engine into it, dana 40 and 44 axle's, nv4500 transmission, etc...yeah...those were the days.

If you REALLY wanna go nuts, i know of an LS2 and a T56 looking for a home (if my sister chickens out lol)

Not sure about the T56, but an LS motor is in my future. This truck is going to be milder than the the Blazer, which was on one tons, lockers, and steroids

Oh heres a question,

What year did gibson switch to rosewood from ebony on the fretboards?

My BB is so much heavier and sounds so different (even acousticlly) I'm kind of interested in finding out the difference between regular older thunderbirds vs my '14

I think it was 2006 or 2008, but can't remember for sure. My 3 2001 Tbird/Blackbirds all are 1 lb. heavier than my 2013 Gold Bird and they sound a little different. The BlackBirds have that more aggressive sound but the ebony 2001 model and the gold 2013 sound pretty similar.
