Thunderbird Club

My new (to me) Traynor cab has no logo; the older ones didn't have any logo. So, I am thinking through putting on a logo plate for my own amusement. Ampeg is too obvious. I haven't found anywhere to buy a Dirk logo (as posted previously). Fender and Marshall logos are easy to get hold of. So two questions:

Which is funnier, a Fender or a Marshall logo on a bass cabinet (my gut says Marshall, since they don't make any)? And
Are there any other nameplates I should consider?
Marshall has made plenty bass cabs. Currently they are not, but when your cab came out I believe they had the MBseries.

I think you should do an Orange logo, or a Sunn logo.

Yeah, Marshall did. And it is also attractive as a Lemmy homage. Then the head would have to be Manslaughter.

Vox logos are available as well. I haven't seen Orange or Sunn.

I would look for an old Traynor logo, or the “Volkswagen” script from an old beetle deck lid.

I've been using Songsterr of late for learning new old songs; the new project is a 90's cover band. It has great features but those features cost almost $10 a month. Is there anything out there that is a good resource for tabs that are printable?
Constantine’s YouTube channel is a good resource, if any of what he has done fits your genre. His early stuff does not have charts, but for the past couple of years his videos have included links to his charts; standard notation and tabs. I’ve learned about 50-60 songs from his work.

Or Beastie Boys style.

Every time I see these guys (local band called The Thirsty Three..) I can't help but think "Man oh man, playing upright sure looks like a whole lot of fun.." Thinking about getting one...hmmmm

It's cool, but between taking more room and, for me, early stage arthritis in my hands(and the cost), no way.

They are a whole lot of fun but they are also:

-Expensive! I lucked out and got an Englehardt ES1 for $1K. It was like new with a good setup. I still had to buy a gigbag, pickup, preamp, bow (you gotta bow), quiver. That’s a plywood high school bass. You could easily spend much more on a better bass.
Strings are $150 and up.

-Hard on the old hands. If I don’t play it regularly, it’s tough. It depends on the music, but even basic root/five stuff can be difficult.

-A different instrument. You will need to learn to play patterns using open strings. I can solo over the whole fingerboard on an electric bass. On upright, after 8 years I can only approach the octave.

That's also all true. I didn't play as much as usual for a few weeks, and now I have a big ol' blood blister on the middle finger of my right hand. It will harden into a good rockabilly hook, but for the time being, it's not so pleasant. And, I'll be traveling for work a lot in the next couple weeks, which means starting over with the finger tips and finger strength again after the travel spell is over.

When I was in Nashville, I saw (I’m pretty sure it was an) Englehardt with a pickup, and hardcase for less than $2000. Also saw a Gibson upright bass for $3000 IIRC.
I wanted to take one home, but all my money and space in the truck went to a set of rear wheels. The wheels were needed and worth it.

My upright is a Christopher. It's a pretty nice Chinese plywood bass that's holding up well to the abuse I put it through. I got it a number of years ago, and my mind has blotted out what I spent. $3K or so, I think, but I'm not sure. It was used, and had a Full Circle pickup installed when I got it. It was completely pristine at the time. It probably hadn't spent any time in dive bars until I got it. Now it has spent lots of time in dive bars. It's the education of a bass.

You've corrupted it:(

I think a Gibson nameplate on a bass cab would be cool. Kinda goes with the Thunderbird theme as well.

A laminated Gibson bumper sticker-maybe backlit-cool! <Addendum> The Gibson store has vinyl stickers in their "lifestyle" thread.
