Thunderbird Club

My new (to me) Traynor cab has no logo; the older ones didn't have any logo. So, I am thinking through putting on a logo plate for my own amusement. Ampeg is too obvious. I haven't found anywhere to buy a Dirk logo (as posted previously). Fender and Marshall logos are easy to get hold of. So two questions:

Which is funnier, a Fender or a Marshall logo on a bass cabinet (my gut says Marshall, since they don't make any)? And
Are there any other nameplates I should consider?

I had a fender bass cabinet that I removed the Fender badge from and replaced with an Eljer (toilet manufacturer) badge, that looked pretty real. I got it from an old kitchen sink I removed, while working in construction.

It looked real enough that I was asked a couple of times by gear heads at gigs where I got the cabinet and when did Eljer make musical equipment.....

I have a friend who put the Kawasaki tank badge from a crashed bike on his guitar amp. It's convincing enough that it took me a while to figure out that the amp was really some kind of Fender. And this from a person who rides motorcycles and ought to know better! You never know with massive Japanese conglomerates, anyway.

My usual trick is to scrounge up Squier logos to put on just about everything. I like the idea of an Eljer amp and cabinet. There's a little guitar amp that has no badge, so maybe that's just what it needs.

How 'bout a "Snap-On" Logo?

Flying home from LA...finally! Played with a band that hasn’t performed in 12 years, though I’ve technically been in the band for 28 years(!!!) sold out the Anaheim House of Blues though, so that was nice.
Decided not to fly a bass out for just one show. Played a borrowed a P bass and an SVT and fridge and it sounded exactly like a P bass through an SVT and fridge. Suppose you could do worse :)

I think this is the only logical choice.

If it was an Ampeg a Frigidaire badge may suit...

Been some good ones suggested, for the Marshall idea maybe a Minor badge from an old Morris? Less than a Major.

The John Deere idea was cool, but you’d want the actual deer image ?
Or a Stag logo from a Triumph, or maybe a Thunderbird tank logo from an old Trumpy bike.

Duke - if you're ever in the LA area again and need to borrow a bass or a rig for a gig just ping me. Take a peek at my TB profile and I'm sure there's something there that would interest you. I'm an hour from the HOB and will deliver (for a pair of tickets or even just a beer). :D
