I play in a cover band. The BL was delighted when I got a Ric. Not so delighted when I didn't think it was the greatest thing ever and flipped it for a 'Bird. His comment about the 'Bird: That thing is rude! Which was the perfect thing to say to be sure that I would keep playing it. Nobody has said another word about it since then.

A guitarist who played with us for a couple years wasn't aware that I had several of them. They are all burst, but they sound really different, and have different details. As most of you know, the '91 is chromed out, with covers. The '01 is bone stock with the exception of a Babicz bridge, and the '15 is a '15. Then there's the bolt-on Epi, which says Epiphone on it, not Gibson and has a black case instead of a brown one. All too subtle.

Actually, we all(pretty much)have an attitude. An advantage of becoming a GOF is that I care less every day what others think of me-or if they think of me at all. Ain't no BFD.:smug:

Do you like your bolt on Epi and does it sound fairly close to any of the Gibby’s?

That’s a damn fine looking bass in it’s own right, but I get it, freedom of expression is a must! Especially when you have the most beautiful shape of bass ever created THE THUNDERBIRD!!!!

Gibson’s and neck thru Epi’s don’t use an Allen key, they use a truss rod wrench. They are really only made in one size 5/16 (8mm is 5/16). So really you shouldn’t have the wrong size.
But to play along, I believe, as long as you are able to get the nut off the truss rod you can easily replace it.

Mine is a bolt on. I’m planning on getting a neck thru someday but I’m really liking mine now it GROWLS! It does take an Allen to adjust so leave it to me to frak it up! I just have a little fret buzz but I can raise the string height a bit I have it pretty low and it seemed fine until the temperature changed. Just to clarify, the neck doesn’t necessarily need to be adjusted. I was just inquiring.

ahh I see.
Just don't use the wrong size allen key. Cause I don't think those ones are as easy to fix

Honestly don't know off the top of my head, all mine are neck thru's... except my Goth project and I never adjusted that... hell I don't even know where the neck is at the moment
