Thunderbird Club

I get so ticked off sometimes. I try to play one of my Birds at gigs with this band and they say "put that toy away and play a real bass"!! Aaaarrgghhh!!!
But it's perfectly ok for one of the guitarists to play a 68 ES335? :banghead:
So annoying.....if it wasn't for the pay..

I have an answer. Part 1 This is my number one bass-it sounds the best. Part 2-second word "off"

That's when I tell 'em I left the big fat violin at home.

Another option is to take both NR 'Birds and say the others are at the Luthier's. Then say ---- off!:smug:

A rule I always lived by when gigging - never get yourself into a position where you must rely on income generated by doing something you love. Sooner or later that income may be in jeopardy if you don't toe a specific line, and then you'll be faced with a decision - continue to do what you love or sacrifice your love for the money.

So Chucky, if you need the money, suck it up and humor them.:sour:

If you don't need the money, tell em if you want any more of their lip you'll scrape it off your zipper.:wideyed:

Or don't say a word, just smile, wink at them, blow a little kiss, smile again, and keep playing. That'll keep them guessing for a while.

Or borrow a U-Bass. That'll freak 'em out.

I have one, and occasionally brought it as a backup because it was so darn convenient to pack. I did have to use it once when my bass gave out half way through a gig. Got a lot of laughs and giggles but EQ'd right you can get a fairly good sound out of one...

He calls himself Gone Plaid but wears a shirt that looks like the kind of garish fruit that usually swims in a tropical drink. This must be the Thunderbird Club for that to be all true. It's why I like it here.

Regardless of the avatar change, @GonePlaid and @Chucky Stiletti are still going to be confused for each other - same baseball cap, beard, etc.

Twins separated at birth?

:thumbsup::D

All excellent points. Not really about the money. Thing is (from my experience) better paying gigs usually mean a better all around environment, not the crappy dive bar gig that goes to 1 in the morning and pays on sales…

I play out as much as I can because I like to keep my live chops up. For now, I get around this by playing with another band where I play Birds exclusively. My rant was more about the perception of a 60s Bird vs that of a 60s 335 and my confusion as to where that may stem from..

he's with Kriegs..
And where is that, do you suppose? :roflmao:

I never left... I just gave up membership #'s to "clubs" on TB. Simply having an attachment to certain clubs apparently gets you treated a certain way. I'm a member of TB.com to enjoy talking about basses and music, etc. not to be branded based on what I buy/ own/ like or who I choose to discuss it with

Good to hear from you. I rarely venture out of the TBird club as I find other clubs kinda dull. Because of this I did not realize (but I'm not surprised) that folks may pigeonhole other members based on their affiliations. Amusing...

You could ask when you get to vote on which guitar they play...

I'm with you to a certain extent. I see no need to advertise any "affiliations" I have. So, if anyone is labelling me for what I own/use, they have had to work to find that. And I have not necessarily disclosed everything... Perhaps I am oblivious to how I'm being treated/mistreated? But I like hanging around here - friendly folks with very few hang ups.
