Thunderbird Club

never thought i could hate a thunderbird... but ive been using mine in marching band and i think im starting to get sick of it
Yeah, I'm getting kind of fed up with mine as well. The neck is too short and the body is too big, plus all the other guys out here are using light weight composites. I guess I'm gonna have to break down and buy a real paddle for my Stand Up Paddle board. ;)

Does any body have a Bird with a forearm contour or belly contour? Assuming a belly contour could be done in an inconspicuous manner. However, I wonder what a forearm contour would like on a Bird body.
Was drooling over a few lull tbird pics....and it looks like the lulls might have a slight forearm route. Can anybody confirm?

Yes, Lull has a forearm cut and a belly cut.

Both are standard on my REV, G8R and MAX plus contoured neck heel.

Forearm cut is fairly subtle

RDs have a belly contour and a small forearm contour. Bit hard to photograph, but I have given it a go. The reflection of the overhead light gives an indication of where the contour is.
So, I think on a solid colour TBird you would hardly notice it.
It is a little different to the one on Carlo's beautiful bass above, in that it curves around toward the bridge end of the body a little as you can see more clearly in the second pic.

Damn teal is sexy on a bird.

btw: My Pro finally doesn't sleep in its box anymore. Its new bed is a warwick case - vdub75 suggested that. Bought it used from the local fleamarket site. Also has slight clue/solvent smell, but not even close to the Epi case. Only prob is that you can feel some bolt where the lower horn is placed.

I have so much lust for that ebony/blocked Bird but with a single TB Max pickup and input on the butt of the body. I've been thinking about flipping a couple of my other basses so I can buy one of yours before you decide to stop building.

Lulls have an arm carve, tummy cut and the inside edge of the lower 'bout as well as the heel are sculpted from the back to allow better upper register access without changing the shape too much when viewd from the front. These were all designed back in 2008.
