DO IT!

Here's my construction drawing from 2012. Grid is one inch. Old school, pencil and paper.

Two (modded) Bachs and two Cataldo NRs. God of Thunder pickguards on the Cataldos.

Thanks for that! I have no excuses now.

Do you know if there is a difference in the body size to a nr firebird? I'm thinking of doing the 2 at the same time.

You're welcome.They're the same

BTW, that body is sized for a fender type neck. You'll have to modify it for anything else.

Hey all! I may be keeping this exact model, thoughts? the price was right, just wondering about the neck action(string height)...seems like I can't quite get it low enough for me...I most likely will be using it for pick playing.
Should I be concerned? The neck seems ok, but I'd like to have a pro setup person look at it.

Thanks all, I really want to keep it!! I think I've found a guy locally to give it the pro setup.

In case it wan't said here yet, B&CH stopped making the non reverse birds due to Gibson threatening them with a lawsuit thingy like they did in the 70s

Not true...maybe Rob from Number One Guitars in the Netherlands will check in. He was intimately involved in B&CH's development of the NR. Had Gibson been instituted a cease and desist he certainly would have let it be known on Last Bass Outpost. I believe it was simply a question of lack of demand. Of course if you have some proof I'll stand corrected. Any intellectual property that Gibson owned on the NR expired long ago, especially in Europe.

Well, guys the end is near and I will bid you all goodbye... It was great fun while it lasted...

According to this article in The Guardian:

Christian group predicts the world will be 'annihilated' on Wednesday | World news | The Guardian

The eBible Fellowship has predicted the world will end today in a blaze of fire...

The eBible Fellowship has had a previous claim that the world would end on 21 May 2011. While that claim proved to be false, the organization is confident it has the correct date this time.

According to their leader McCann "There’s a strong likelihood that this will happen", although he did leave some room for error: “Which means there’s an unlikely possibility that it will not.” :)

I will report back tomorrow if I'm still here - Until then, have a nice last day on Earth... ;)

Nuthin' like that P&%$* fur pink case! :D
Now, I need to set it up, and play the living #$% out of it. It's pretty well scuffed up, so the chrome treatment will make the vintage vibe complete. The case is a war horse, the bass is a war horse, and I'm really happy with it so far. It balances wherever you want it to be, far better than any bass of any kind I have ever owned. The EB-2 is pretty good that way, but this one is amazing. No neck dive no matter where you put the neck.

And with that said, if this is the last day the planet will exist, I'll go up in a big ball of fire as a happy man.

It was pretty funny taking the 'Bird home last night. The case is absolutely enormous. I got a few funny looks riding in the elevator. That's OK with me. They don't know what they are missing.

And yeah, the pink fur is great. So is the goofy flap. Why is it there? Beats me, but I like it. The brown tolex is pretty nice, too. It's all tasteful in 1970s custom van kind of way. I love it.

My 1998 Les Paul DC has the brown tolex, pink fur and "shroud" which is completely torn up at the headstock from years of shifting during transport and the loose ends of the strings poking up through the Grovers into the silky pink cover.

Dang! And I just bought another Gibson bass that won't be delivered until tomorrow! Oh well, I guess it will just be sitting on my doorstep for a thousand years until some archeologist comes along and surmises that the custom in my household was to place a prized possession outside the door to ward off evil spirits during the mass destruction of the earth. :D

PS - the good news is I won't be sacrificing a Tbird, just its little SG brother...
