I just made sure that the connectors were good... the guy who did the conversion used a cheep phone plug, which I had replaced with a Switchcraft, that kind of thing. The Nady itself works fine. Reliable as a shoehorn. Old technology is where its at.

I went with a digital and rechargeable Shure wireless. It was expensive, but I use it multiple times per week, and have bought no batteries for however long I have had it. Four years maybe? My CroMagnon ears cannot tell the difference between it and a cable. Plus, it is also a tuner pedal that works well with the upright. It solves the impedence mismatch between the upright and amp. It slices, it dices, as seen on TV!

I've been playing with a reggae band and the rehearsal space has some questionable gear in every room. I played through this janky set of cabs last night (my amp). It sounded ok, except when for a couple of times when there were drop outs.
It occurred to me on the drive home that I should have checked the impedance of the cabs instead of just assuming they were 8 ohm...
