Thunderbird Club

NBD!

I certainly overpaid for it. She's pretty beat. Wee cracks at the nut on both sides. Truss rod has never been adjusted and after I took off the truss rod cover, it won't sit flat again. Bridge is right down and I'll have to correct the neck and raise the bridge a little. I'll dress her up with new strings and a proper strap and locks later. She plays GREAT, as they do. This'll be my show player and the 2012 can be the backup.

Wooo! 2 Thunderbirds. This is the life.

It's got a thoroughly sexy case, too. The idea that you overpaid will go away pretty fast, and the longer you keep it, the less difference it makes. Having regretted letting go of a 'Bird, even if it was just a battered bolt-on, lets you know that you don't let go of 'Birds. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Sounds like it might be your story, too.

That is such a great looking T-bird!

Love the Gibson in Classic White - Definitely on my wish list...

There was a slightly beaten up one in my local classifieds about a month ago, but seller wanted $ 1500+ for it, which was way out of my budget, or trade for a shortscale 7ender, which I don't have. So I had to let it pass...

Congratulations Geoffy!

It'll look great with chrome parts!

Probably, but no - Looks great as it is... ;)

I was thinking the same thing!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! ;)

I suppose this makes me a firmly entrenched member of the club.

Cleaned all the schmutz off the white bird last night, corrected the neck, adjusted the bridge, fitted new 55-110 D'addario Pro Steels and she sings. Set her up virtually identically to the burst. After looking at it for a bit, I'm leaving the black hardware! (@hillerup amd @TBird1958 you can debate the merits of each!)

Have an awesome day, everyone!

(Burst is a 2012, White is a 2006 [missed a number on the serial!])

Aaah, classic white bird.....nice.

IMHO I prefer black hardware on light paint jobs.

Congrats on bird #2 mate.

I like the black hardware on there. I wouldn't change it either.

I love that reclaimed wood wall of yours. Someday I plan on having the same type of wall to display my basses on.

If you leave black hardware on the white one, you have to chrome out the burst one. Keep the world from wobbling on its axis. That's all.

I'm with Gaolee on this - Keep the white one with black hardware and if you have to chrome one out, do the vintage sunburst to give it the classic look... :)
