Killing two birds(sorry) with one stone, so to speak the newest complete addition to the flock is Ginger and some of you will remember Ol Blú ol Blú has finnaly been fully modified with Gibby Tbird pups with nickle covers and rings the spacer for the bridge pup has been made out of wood and painted to match. Great sounding bass, this is definitely a work horse of a bass

How would one slightly raise the action on the E String? I have Fret buzz at Fret 1.

That's typically the symptom of a nut cut too deep. That said, which model Thunderbird?

I'll defer to three point fans on that.

Might be a little late to chime in on this since we move so fast in this club :P. But Yes, i have to agree with the Dadagoboi on this - nut sadly cut slightly too deep. That being said, if you want a quick fix that potentially works, & i have done this with much success (until i sit down with a new nut & carve it.) this should only be done as a temporary solution to being able to play said bass a little longer. But a piece of electric tape folded & placed in the string slot. It'll fill up enough & raise ever so slightly the strings nut action back to being buzzless at the top. I've done it this morning on a pbass copy i got until i source a nut blank around my place that isn't currently used other builds of mine :).

As i've said, temporary fix, dont expect it too last too long. It's only tape afterall. Also, side note, i do enjoy the 3 point, i've not experienced problems setting it up properly. Only thing was the studs liffting but I've solved the problem & it holds tight. :D

Nice....was just asking who else had one. Like they said raising the saddle is a short term fix, filling with glue and filler of your choice...I think that would be dependent on what already in there. Best of all is a nut upgrade....the coolest though un testeted is the Warwick just a nut 1... can adjust each nut slot up and down separately. It’s also brass. Its what I want to do with mine. The blackbird is no major feat of design....was just made to look cool as hell. Improvements welcome. Bridge, nut, pickups and maybe improved controls for those pickups.
I really appreciate having the controls out of my my way when playing...I also like that it forces me to improve amp eq skills.... since it’s the only tone option...

But what the hell is an optigrab handle I still have no idea what that’s for. You could route your patch cord from I put back through that handle then back through the strap but that has nothing to do with optimal grab...

In my experience with downtuning, if you use standard gauge but downtune, before I put the bass away for the night, I would tune it back to E Standard.
On my basses that have heavy downtuned, I just leave the because the tension is about the same as if it were standard gauge standard tuning.
My concern is the reason I downtuned in the first place.....action is so high because of too much neck relief....in this case down tuning feels better and probably is better.....sounds fine the way it is but the neck relief is still uncorrected.... leaving it like this is the concern.
It’s better for the bass to get used to one set tension...this isn’t the difference between E and D....it 2 and a half steps.... tuning never stables and intonation is different. It’s too extreme.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to the Tbird gang!!!!!

Christmas porn is looking similar. Can we say porn? Sure as hell cant say $HIT.

Always liked that comment in apocalypse now...

“We train young men to drop fire on people, but their commanders won't allow them to write "fck" on their airplanes because it's obscene!”

We censor swearing in movies that air on cable even though the movie itself is full of drugs and murder.

You stick your pinky in the optigrab

Where do you find this 'information'?

You stick your pinky in the optigrab

I guess I’ll try that....sounds dirty.

Where do you find this 'information'?

which information?

Just my experiences... I find that any instrument that I switch between severe differences in tuning I always have a hard time keeping it in tune until it settles...much of this I’m sure is the strings themselves wrapped around the peg tightening and loosening. Going from bead to eadg every time I pick up and then put away my bass would be ridiculous....that’s what I was responding to if that makes any difference to you.

Repeated fluctuations in extremes is something I try to avoid for anything at all times. I saw someone recently refer to the string tension in terms of weight like pounds....I’d love to know how they even measure that....

With guitars I’ve broken strings trying to go back and forth

I just believe in owning enough guitars for every tuning you could imagine actually liking.

Or was it allowing the upbow to remain? If so you can read about that anywhere.... it’s not impossible to fix once it goes too far....but not something I could do.

If it was something else please let me know. If you were just being snarky then I wish you better luck next time.

Bring it to a luthier or tech, have them check it out
