Yep, Australia has States and a couple of Territories. The States were Colonies in the olden days.

Further explanation follows, just skip it folks if you like. It is way OT.

They came together as part of Federation in 1901, to form the Commonwealth of Australia. At that time they became States.

That should be a fairly familiar story to NA readers.

As would be the formation of the Australian Capital Territory (ACT).

Victoria & NSW would not allow the Capital city to be capital of the other State. So the compromise was that if the new Capital city was to be in NSW then it couldn’t be within 100 miles of Sydney and in the meantime Melbourne Victoria would be the temporary National Capital.
So, they had a bit of a competition and they chose Canberra for the Capital city and sliced a surrounding hunk of land out of NSW for the ACT.
A little similar to the creation of Washington D.C. I think???

The other major territory is the Northern Territory. Still quite a untamed area compared to the States, not enough population for Statehood though it is quite large in area.
My cousins lived in the NorthWest Terroritories in Canada for a while (I think). I assume that it may be a similar story.

Just to touch on the NT again for a minute. Excuse us Aussies (and I assume Canadians are the same) when we look confused with all the “Big as Texas” talk we get on tv and film. The NT rates 3rd in size behind WA & Qld, but is just shy of twice the size of Texas. Texas is closer to the same size as NSW (which ranks 5th).

Of course the reason our States are larger is just because there is a hell of a lot fewer of them. 7 in a bit less space than you guys shoved 48 in.

I'm not sure why he was using two 360 preamps and only one 361 Power Plus cabinet. A 360 can run four 361s. You can be heard on the moon if you do that. Two preamps doesn't get you anywhere so far as I know. But then, obviously, I don't know something or he wouldn't have been doing that. The guitarist has two 260 preamp heads, assuming those are powered cabinets. I don't know the reason for that, either.

In the group that did the H.S. concerts in the early 70s, the guitarist had 2 Super Beatle heads(and cabs). Always set both heads up in case one took a . Maybe one preamp each is on standby?

I wouldn't know a Mötley Crüe song if I fell on it. The only thing I knew was Sixx played Birds some of the time. There's a part where he lamps someone with his Bird ... then is able to resume playing it. Nah. Anyway that was probably my first and last foray into the world of hair metal.

There's some I like. Crue isn't one.

So yesterday, inspired by JJR, I outed myself as a Liz Phair fan. I’ll now also admit being a big fan of this girl. She was on Kimmel the other night and I really like her new album. This is from Kimmel; on the studio track both Keltner AND Ringo play the drums.

Bonus - there's a 'Bird backing her. It's a Firebird, but at least it is the right shape if it has to have too many strings.

For sure! Loved when they had Wendy-O-Williams on board. Second City TV rocked so hard back then - they nailed the rise of "video" and all the tacky crap that came along with it. SNL had it's NYC thing, but SS ruled for real world parody/humor.

Those preamps have next to nothing in them. They are reliable as an anvil. I don't believe anybody would need a spare unless it was a place to store contraband.
