Thunderbird Club

Winter in Illinois.........I'm shuddering!
I grew up in Ohio. It's an uninhabitable climate.

My job is very odd. My background is as an architect and general contractor and my current job draws on that, but involves consulting. That's about all I can say about it. I started messing with machinery as a kid and haven't stopped. If there's tools involved, I probably like it. If there are dangerous tools involved, I like it even better.

Kind of relevant as it does have a Mini Thunderbird pick-up in it... NEW BASS DAY!

Very cool! Are you installing flats, tapes or rounds on this one? Would love to hear a sound clip or at least a short review of this Gibby beauty.

Sure, I can rock one out tonight. It's got flats on it and they sound terrific. I was actually hoping you guys could help me identify them. They have kind of an orange/copper silk on them.

Interested in hearing how this one sounds with flats, and which ones...?

My hollow body came with Rotosound 66 SwingBass strings, and am curious as to which strings would sound great on a hollow body...

If you don't get an answer on the strings here, post the question in the strings forum - they've helped me identify strings in the past.

The Cort A4 (Which looks quite similar).

You got that right! They are identical. I couldn't find any info on the set-up for the pots on a Laguna Ocean so I went looking for demos of the Cort A4 on YouTube and I don't see any difference at all. I'm guessing they're made in the same plant.

Anyway, in case anyone cares:

Across the top row, front to back: Master Vol. - P/U Blend - ON/OFF toggle, Up is ON - EQ Bass
Bottom row, front to back: EQ Treble - EQ Mid

I messaged the original owner, too, just in case he knows. Posted in the strings forum. Let's see what the jackals come up with and how many of them tell me to "do a search".

I am trying to figure out what strings came on my ES 335- they feel and sound great. They are nickel rounds and look like Rotos but with no silk at all.All the end bits that go into the bridge are brass.
Good to see another "hollow body" in the family!

I am not too sure if the wiring is the same as the Cort A4 but the Barts MK-1 is a passive pickups that is wired to the Bart MK-1 preamp. So that means all the pots the Ocean has are 10k for active setups.

I look through the wiring on the control cavity on my Ocean TB70 and its a full wires that looks like a mess.

I dont know if Cort A4 has a cleaner wiring than our Ocean TB70.
